BTDT Moms... What size coming home outfit?
I was told today that baby is measuring 6lbs 9oz and to expect her to be about 7 1/2lbs. I have a newborn outfit for her made by BRU and was wondering if you think she'd fit this? Or should I pick up a 0-3 instead? What is your experience with this?

My DD was born at 7 lbs 2.5 oz but was 6 lbs 14 oz the next day and only 6 lbs 9 oz when we left the hospital. Her outfit was a nb and it was still a little big. We had trouble with feeding and her weight was a bit of an issue the first two weeks and she lost weight.
It's so hard to tell... If you have a 9 lb baby, a 0-3 outfit will fit great.
Maybe have a back-up option you like just in case? It's not like baby clothes take up much room in your bag.

 8lbs 7 ozs
 9lbs 8 ozs

Definitely nb. My dd wore newborn until 10lbs. I'm not a fan of clothes looking huge on babies.

With DS I was told at every appointment that he was going to be a big baby. I bought his coming home outfit 0-3 months- he came 3 weeks early and was only 7lbs. I had a newborn outfit with me and ended up putting him in that, and it still was big on him. His original "coming home" outfit fit him at 1 month.

They kept saying DS was going to be small, 6-6.5lbs. He ended up being 7lbs 4oz and I only had a 0-3 outfit, I thought at the time there wasn't really a difference between that and newborn. It was big on him but it worked.
I'll be getting a newborn size this time. From almost all the brands I found, newborn size is 5-8lbs and 0-3 is 8-12lbs.

DS was 8lbs and his 1 month coming home outift was swimming on him! I would do newborn- it won't fit for long but will fit coming home from the hospital.

Newborn size, and that might be big. My experience is it's not so much the weight of the baby but the length of the baby that makes the difference. DS was 5lb 5 oz/18inches long. He fit into the body of a preemie outfit wonderful, but was 1 inch to long. The newborn was CRAZY big on him I don't like the huge outfits on a little baby because I like seeing just how small they really are.

Thanks ladies! I forgot that they tend to lose weight by the time they leave the hospital. Seems like newborn will probably work well. It just looks so teeny tiny

LOL I had so few nb outfits and ZERO nb diapers at home!! My friend left a box of diapers on my porch for me the day we came home from the hospital -- I still had to buy TWO more boxes of nb diapers before she could fit in size 1s! I had to go out to the store and buy a ton of clothes for her when she was 4 days old because nothing fit right.
You just don't know until the baby comes. I was full term, but she was tiny (not only just 7 2, but only 18.5 inches). A week later, a friend sent me a HUGE box of nb clothes from her daughter and we used it all!
If you want to be prepared, buy them but don't wash and save the receipts. You can always wash once the baby is home. But going out shopping it a lot harder once the baby is home.

My son left the hospital at 6 lbs 14 ounces and newborn was big on him.
Thank goodness we decided last minute to buy a nb outfit. We only had a 0-3 outfit because they estimated that he would be a large baby.

I did newborn with the last one (8lbs 4 oz) and have a newborn for this as well.
Like others said, it won't last, but they can come home in it!

My coming home outfit was a newborn size but I brought a 0-3 mos sleeper just in case. My ds was born weighing 10lb, 9oz and just fit in the newborn outfit. It was the first and last newborn anything he wore.

6 to 9 months lol but I wanted a certain one from Disneyland and that was the smallest size they had! It was HUGE.. he fits into size 12 mo now and that onesie is still big lol
He was born 8 lb 12 oz and lost a lot of weight his first month, but he never fit into NB... 0 to 3 mo fit fine. ditto with diapers, never in nb - size 1 fit fine the whole time

My LO was 7 lbs 7 ozs and wore newborn, 0-3 would've been huge. Remember they lose weight also.

If you buy from Carters of Kohls you can still return it after washing .

The newborn outfit should be fine. DS was 8 lbs 1 oz at birth and wore newborn clothes for 5 weeks even though he was well beyond the weight limit.

DS was born 7.5 lbs and fits into the smallest newborn size. I find the Gerber onesies fit best on him. I wouldnt go with the 0-3mth one.
