Ped wanted him off at 15 months I didnt do it until 18 months. It took 2 weeks, I took 1 bottle away every few days! And he never even asked for them again!

Re: At what age did you drop the bottle?

Wow, reading this post I am a little surprised....
DS was NEVER a good bottle drinker. It used to take us forever to get him to finish his bottles. Then, as he started to get older I started to see that he was less and less interested in real food and I attributed it to being full from the bottle. We started cutting bottles out at 6m. The first to go was the late afternoon, then the lunch and then the morning. By 10m the only bottle he was getting was his bedtime bottle. This was all on the recommendation of the ped ofcourse. This was the schedule that they had spoke with us about from the beginning. It's just what the recommend. I was concerned that he was not getting enough, but the ped assured me that he was fine. (Thankfully for the most part DS is a great eater). He started drinking from his straw cup at 6m as well.
Now at 13m he eats 3 meals a day, offered a 7oz cup of milk with each meal, which he usually drinks about half of and water cups with snack and all day long otherwise. He gets a 5oz Milk bottle before bed. Our ped wants us to stop the nighttime bottle, but I am just not ready. It is our downtime together. He just lays with me and cuddles. I Chat Icon it! My mom suggested replace the bottle with a book and he may do the same...maybe next monthChat Icon .

So I am surprised that I am one of the few that still isn't giving DS 3 bottles a day. He doesn't miss them, and in fact I really think that it helped with his appetite.

My DD is 12 months and will only take water from a sippy.
She will only drink milk in a bottle so that is what she gets.
If it's a choice between milk in a bottle or no milk at all- I'm chosing the bottle.
To he11 with these so called "rules"
IMO she is still a baby.

I feel like with the way things are lately in another 10 years or so they will be telling you to get rid of bottles at 4 months old!
