At what age did you drop the bottle?

DD will be turning one soon so I will try giving her whole milk. Should I put it in her regular bottle or in a cup? I have no idea when I should transition?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

With my DS and DD I dropped their daytime bottles after their 1 year well visit with the ped. Just started putting milk in sippy cups.

With my DS I dropped his night bottle at 14 months.

With my DD I just dropped her last night bottle at 18 months.... I was holding onto that last bottle because she's my last baby and I couldn't let it go!

The ped wanted her off bottles by 15 months and at 13 months she just stopped taking them one day so i started giving her milk in her sippy cup instead.

I dropped the bottle for both kids between 12 and 13 months.

We "dropped" them at around 12m.. but on occasion I'll give him a bottle cause I miss seeing it

He can care less either way, he hates milk

With DD the day she turned 1; we put whole milk in sippy & there was no turning back.

With DS; who turned 2 in May; he still gets a bottle 2x a day (b4 naps w/ Pediasure & at bedtime) b/c he doesn't eat solid foods & he's my baby.

she is 12 m 3 weeks and she just dropped all bottles.

My first DD dropped the bottle at 11 months with no hesitation. My second DD would not give it up. Just last week, we gave the bottles to a friend's baby son and my DD is 26 months old.

daytime bottles by 18m
her last 'night cap' was strong through her 2nd bday. Then we went cold turkey and got rid of it.

15 months. We tried at 1 year, had a really hard time. Finally went cold turkey.

Bad mommy here...she was 2 in Nov. and that Dec. we told her Santa took the babas to babies who really needed them. It was like living with a drug addict going through withdrawals for like 2 weeks!

DD is 14months and no longer takes a bottle. However, I BF her until 10 months so I don't think she developed a deep attachment to the bottle. We did it cold turkey, she didn't even notice.

ds is almost 14 months and still takes 3 bottles my goal is to have him off by the end of the summer... we are in no rush

DD just turned 1 two days ago and we're still doing bottles. Probably in a few days we'll start sippy cups of milk instead of bottles. She's already in LOVE with sippy cups (water) and has been since she was about 6 months old...so I'm hoping the transition goes smoothly.

one year is when I started. He was off them all at 15 months.

I used the same straw sippys he was using for water.

At about a year, we started eliminating them one by one, and by about 15 months she was off completely. She was ready and didn't fight it at all.

17 months. Cold turkey.

DS is almost 21 months and gets 2 bottles per day. I'm in no rush to get rid of it. He stopped using the paci himself, just decided that he didn't need it so this is his last "baby" thing. I tried a couple of times and he wanted no part of milk in a sippy. I'd rather he drink the milk. I used to be adamant that I was taking away the bottle but I realized that it's ok if I don't do everything by the book. I love holding him and giving him his bottle in the am and before bed

DS is 17 months and still has a bottle when he first wakes up and right before bed. I wanted to get rid of them sooner but he was 13.5 months when I had my second son and knew he was going to want bottles if the baby had them. Plus I couldn't deal!

I've tried giving him milk in a sippy cup but he won't take it even though he drinks water in a sippy cup all day long. My goal is to get rid of all the bottles within the next few months but by his second birthday the latest.

DD #1 was a ba ba addict, we finally dropped them at about 22 months and it was a struggle. DD #2 we dropped them at about 14 months. She saw her big sis with a cup and that's what she wanted. We had no problems dropping her bottles.

I stopped the daytime bottles at 11 months and bedtime bottle at 14 months. I probably could have done it earlier, he didn't notice.

I think every child is different.
Some take to the whole milk right away no issues.
My DD just turned 1 last week and we started whole milk and she would not take it. So then I did the mix of formula and milk and she's taking it better now. So for her - there is no way she could handle the change of milk AND milk in a sippy all at once. I tried milk in the sippy to see if she was just over the bottle...that didn't work. The minute I did half formula/half milk in a bottle - she drank entire thing.
I can tell she needs a slow transition to milk. I'll worry about getting rid of the bottle at a later date. At this point I just want her to drink the milk.
But as you can see from other posters - some kids have no issues and will switch to milk in a sippy no problem and at the same time.
Good luck! It's kind of been hell over here since we added milk.

I gradually started minimizing the amount of bottles a day she had until she only had the bedtime bottle left. I held onto that one until 16 mths or so.

I started to give DS a sippy of milk around 16 months. Was going ok. Then he got sick and refused to drink milk out of a sippy for almost 2 months. I finally got him back on 2 sippy's of milk at the end of May. One in the morning and one in the afternoon... Then he started to cut his molars and refused milk out of a sippy again. Back on the bottle. He cut 5 teeth in less then 4 weeks! I am going to try to get him back on milk sippys next week. I have no plan to drop the night bottle yet. He needs it for comfort...He is now 20 months old..
