Cute or not cute?
We told my MIL a few weeks ago about the pregnancy. Since then she refers to the baby as 'her baby'. I say each time 'our baby' as I look towards my DH. Is she just being cute or not?
I told DH that it needs to chill. He said it is only because it is new and it will wear off. I said fine, but if it doesn't I'm going to get more pizzed.

My first instinct is - not cute. But it depends on your relationship with your MIL.
My mom calls my kids her babies, I am fine with that. I'd even be fine with my MIL calling the kids her babies. But instead she chose to call DS "grammy's boy" and tha irked me  She stopped saying it but honestly... it only bothered me as a new mom. As my kids have gotten older, my hormones have leveled out  and I see how much they love her I don't care what she calls them as long as it's not "my son" or "my daughter."

I think she's trying to be cute. And it's annoying to you.

Cute but annoying...
My mom refers to her friends' children's weddings/babies as her friends' weddings/babies (ex: A's daughter is pregnant... but she'll say "A's baby"). DRIVES ME NUTS!!!! But, she means well...

I think she's just trying to be cute. 
I have heard my mom call up my brother and ask how "her babies" are. I've done it too. Was always meant out of love on our part.. & we certainly don't think the kids are actually "ours".

Thanks all. I do get along with her so I didn't say a word other than to just say 'our baby'. I was in a pissy mood last night so I wasn't sure if it was just me. lol

im sure she is just trying to be cute but it sounds annoying to you. i dont think she means any harm by it. is it her first grandkid? thats big for a grandparent, shes probably just excited.
my mom refers to my LO as her twinkie. shes always like "hows my twinkie today? is it kicking a lot?" doesnt bother me much

MIL says "her baby" and my mom says "her grandchild".
I wouldn't mind it if it was vice versa. It annoys me til no end.

OMG, I JUST went through this with my own mom!!!!!!!!!
I tried to get past it, thinking I was just being overly hormonal.
Yesterday I finally said something, I couldn't take it any more ... I was  every time I thought about it.
"Don't you mean "your grand-babies"
I felt soooo much better saying something!!!!!!!!!
