Anyone here commute to NYC daily?

If so, what time do you leave the house, and what time do you get home?


I leave the house at 7am and get home at 8pm. My job has zero compassion since I became a Mom. The commute is finally catching up to me.

When I go to my main office I leave at 7:00 a.m. and get home either 7:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.......it stinks big time!

I travel to different locations, so right now I am about 45 to an hour away from home..I love it!

hey hon! i commute to downtown brooklyn. i take the 7:13 and get to work at 8:20. i take the 4:56 home and get home at 6pm.

I leave my house at 7:30-7:45 and am home by 6:45 pm

Not on LI but, in Rockland.

I leave at 6:20am and get home at 6:30pm (on a good day). My job has been pretty accomodating but, it's such a long day regardless!!!

When I used to commute I left at 6:45am, dropped the kids off at daycare and picked them up at 6:50pm.

I commuted to NYC before my maternity leave... I would leave my house at 7am and get home at 6:15pm. Now that I've had my DS, I don't think I can do it anymore. I am due to go back at the end of the month and am seriously considering resigning and staying home for a bit. When I am ready, I am going to find a new job on LI. The commute really takes such a huge toll! I was exhausted by the time I got home every night. I can't imagine having to take care of DS after that. I give you a lot of credit!!!

Most of the time, I catch an 8ish -am, get in by 9:30am.

Now that DH is on furlough, I catch anywhere between a 7am-7:45ish & get in a little earlier than 9am.


Going home, I either catch a 5pm & get in at 6:30pm or a 5:30ish train & get home at 7pm.
The later train is what kills me.

I leave my house around 7:40 and get in at 9:15 or 9:20. I'm usually the first one there. But I am pretty much the second person to leave at 5:20. Even leaving that early, I don't get home till 6:40 or so!

After reading some of these posts - I think I have it good

I take a 7:15 bus and am in my office by 830. I leave at 4 and and am home at 5:15.

I take a half hour lunch so I can leave that early.

ETS: I live in Northeast Queens...so not too far out from the city. Wtih no traffic
(a rare occurence) it takes 20 minutes to get to the city.

I used to..from PA. i'd be out of the house by 6:15 am to be on a 6:49 NJ transit train and be home in my door by 6:15 pm.

it almost killed me which is why i had to give up the job i loved. but my son and sanity were more important.

I am on the 7:30 train in the morning and dont get home till 5:30-6pm. Sometimes I work late, and don't get our until 9pm.

I take the train from Bayside into the city--
leave the house bet 7:30-8 and come home around 6:30.

I catch the 8:30 and I am at my desk by 9:25. I have a great commute.
