May I ask you lovely ladies some questions - Long

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes by posting here, and I hope I don't upset anyone.

I'm in limbo right now.

I'm supposed to be 7 weeks pregnant.
Started bleeding Saturday morning. Was taken in for a sono and we saw a sac, and my uterus looked good. No HB yet. The tech thinks I am earlier then I thought bc I have longer cycles so she said it could just be too early.

The bleeding is normal I'm told.

I've been bleeding everyday since Saturday. Not gushing blood, but enough. I have drops in the toilet and then when I wipe there is alot on the paper. It's pretty red if you ask me. It doesn't seem "normal" to me.

Called doctors office yesterday. Barely any cause for concern on their part. I am told that I should be gushing blood and having bad cramps. I went for more bloodwork today to see where my levels are and have another sono on Monday.

Did any of you bleed like this and it ended in miscarriage. It just doesn't feel right to me. I see blood, I think I'm losing the baby. I can't imagine bleeding this way and going on to have a healthy child (although it seems this is pretty common and happens more than I thought)

I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster here. One minute I'm thinking positive and I'm hopeful. The next minute I'm crying like a baby. I just don't know what to do here. I don't know how to wait 2-3 more days for these results.

My DH has no idea what I'm going through, and honestly, I just want to strangle him. I just really want to be prepared.

If you had something similar happen to you and you are up to sharing it I would really really appreciate it.

Well, i wasnt gushing blood, it was more like a regular period. Very red. I did have period cramps. But, i *think* i was more mentally prepared ( if thats possible) because my starting numbers were low (5). They told me after the number that it was iffy with such a low number. Idk. I do hope you getbsome answers quick.

As far as dh, yeah mine said "you were only pg for like a week" Chat Icon he was trying to give me an upside, but at that point hot pokers in his eyes would have been nice Chat Icon

Re: May I ask you lovely ladies some questions - Long

I did have a miscarriage with my last pregnancy. I started bleeding kind of like you described, BUT by the middle of the day I started bleeding I was bleeding A LOT. Like a heavy, heavy period with cramps.

I know it's hard to wait. And trust me, I know the feeling of wanting to strangle DH all too well. I'm praying that you get answers very soon b/c the not knowing is the worst! But I know that it is very common apparently to bleed, I learned from here a LOT of women bleed in the first trimester.

Also, if it helps, the DAY I started bleeding I went to the ER. By the time they did the sono there was nothing there, no sign of anything. I would think that seeing the sac and the uterus looking good is a very good sign, right? What were your numbers from your previous blood draw(s)?

I'm praying for you, Diana!!!!

Thank you so much! Jenn, you too! I really appreciate every single response!

The doctor said my numbers, that were taken last Tuesday, were right on target with a 5 week pregnancy.

Chat Icon you get some good news!

When I had my 2nd miscarriage, I started lightly bleeding, more than spotting, less than a period. I'd stand up and feel a couple of drops come out. The OB couldn't find a reason for the bleeding and there was a heartbeat, but I was measuring a week behind. Unfortunately, I passed everything 2 weeks after I started bleeding. I didn't have any cramps until right before everything passed and they weren't bad cramps at all. I never bled heavily at all, even after everything passed. I stopped bleeding entirely 3 days after everything passed.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm sorry you are going through this. It is just a terrible experience and I hope everything works out okay for you.

Re: May I ask you lovely ladies some questions - Long

I had two different experiences, both early on.

With my first pregnancy and m/c, at 5.5 weeks, I started spotting pinkish, then red on a Tuesday night. By Wednesday, I was bleeding a little more steadily in the morning, but still like a light period. At one point, I cramped terribly and (sorry, TMI), passed a lot of blood and a clot, and I knew I had m/c. I had never even had a beta done to confirm my pregnancy, and by the time I had one later that day, it was 25, and then went down.

With my chemical PG last June, I was spotting brown when I got my BFP. I went in for a beta and it was 242, but never doubled and started going down almost immediately. All I had that time was two rounds of light brown spotting, and never had any real bleeding!

My two experiences just go to show that there doesn't seem to be any real rhyme or reason between the amount of bleeding and the outcome. There are so many women who have significant bleeding during their pregnancies, and are fine, and I really hope that you are one of them. Re: May I ask you lovely ladies some questions - Long

i think you should ask for repeat beta tests. this will let you know the situation.

if you take a beta test in the morning, the results would be in by that evening. then 2 days later you take another one and you can see if they are doubling. this will give you insight on what might be going on. it's helpful for early on pregnancies when you can't see much on a sono.

that's what i would ask my dr for if i were you. I'd demand it actually.

i can't answer your question, i'm sorry. i had a totally different mc experience.

I didn't bleed at all. I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. There was no heartbeat after seeing one at 7 weeks. By 7 wks they should be able to see a heartbeat on an ultrasound (internal) and see the baby. Can your doc get you in asap for this? I'm sorry. This was the best thing you could do.
Personally, I wouldnt know what is wrong/right in a miscarriage bc I didnt even bleed red blood. I saw a brown string of discharge (1) and had a scary feeling went to the Dr and the baby was gone. So its inevitable what really constitutes if the baby is OK. I would say the beta continuing to go up would be a HUGE plus in your situation. If you are bleeding and the #s are falling then I would see more reason for concern. I would hang tight for now. I know its not easy. I also know what its like to have your dh thinking everything is perfect. DH went in the day after I saw the brown discharge...NO JOKE...his EXACT WORDS "I cant wait to see how big the baby got"...I was likeChat Icon As they say men are from Mars and women are from venus (or is it reversedChat Icon ). First off Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. The waiting is the absolute worst. I Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon everything works out for you.

I too had some bleeding (not exactly what you described) and my numbers were rising but not enough. They too thought my weeks were off. Long store short, ended in MC. I hope and pray that is not the case for you.

I don't understand why your doctor is saying it take 2-3 days for results. Seems slow! I also read another post of yours saying that had you were waiting on the phone for so long. After this ordeal is over, you may want to think about switching doctors. Esp with something SO sensitive, I think the office should be a little more helpful. What is it to them if they put "STAT" on the bloodwork? Just an idea.

I know it's really stressful right now. If there is anything I can do, feel free to FM. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: May I ask you lovely ladies some questions - Long

I've had 2 natural m/c's.

The first one started as brown blood, to pink to red. I never had any cramping at all. My sono showed a sack. My betas were decreasing. The bleeding lasted about 12 days. I would have been almost 7 wks when it happened.

My second m/c was absolutely horrible.

One of my friends has had red bleeding in her first trimester for both her pregnancies and has 2 beautiful little girls. So it really can go either way. The waiting really s ucks Chat Icon I really hope everything works out for you!

I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I miscalculated and thought I was about 7 1/2. I had no bleeding and no cramping. When I went for my first sono there was no heartbeat. Since I thought I was just about 8 weeks not 10 I went for a second opinion and got the same answer.

I have a friend however, who is also a nurse, bleed just like she had her period for 5 months. It would come as if she had her period and then it would stop and then the next month come back again. Because of this she thought each month she wasn't getting pregnant (they were trying at the time)....when the bleeding finally stopped and she took a pregnancy test she figured she was newly pregnant. When she went for her first sono she was shocked to find out she was almost 5 months.

A cousin of mine also had heavy bleeding on and off for the first three months with 2 out of 4 of her children.

Saying lots of

Re: May I ask you lovely ladies some questions - Long

Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers.

Thia, what's going on with me sounds similar to your first miscarriage.

I am going to call my doctors office this morning. I have to say, I absolutely love my doctors (Hanauer and Dolisi) but am not too fond of their front desk staff. I couldn't switch doctors over that though because I truly trust them with everything, and having csections I wouldn't be comfortable with someone else.

I am hoping that they get me some answers today. I feel like I really need to know something today or I will lose my mind. Chat Icon

I had 2 m/c.
One was very early...it was only a few days after I got a BFP. I had a beta done which was normal, but started spotting. Went back for another beta 2 days later and numbers had only gone up by like 10 or something like that. It was a Friday. Bled lightly all weekend, by monday I had cramps and a little more like AF bleeding and had beta done and the numbers were going down.

Second time I was about 6-7 weeks. Spotted one day, and full on cramps and AF the next day. Again, betas were going down.

Sorry you are going through this Chat Icon the rollercoaster waiting game is torture!!!

With the twins, I had spotting/light AF type, went in for a beta and it was low. I was prepared for another m/c. Spotting stopped after a few days and when I went back for beta a few days later it had shot through the roof.

I pray everything works out for you! Chat Icon

Re: May I ask you lovely ladies some questions - Long

I had 2 miscarriages as well.... the first one I started bleeding right from my BFP... continued light bleeding from that point until 1st sono at 6 weeks.... she saw a sac, and fetal pole...no hb...told me I was probably earlier than I thought. Continued bleeding until almost 8 weeks...went in for another sono, saw sac and pole...no heartbeat. Dr said I was only measuring like 6 weeks...and it didn't look good. Sure enough, the bleeding got WORSE and I passed tmi a large amount of clots that night. Had a total miscarriage. Beta confirmed afterwards.
2nd miscarriage was a chemical.... got bfp... started bleeding...went for beta...it was low....went for repeat beta 2 days later... went down more. Just continued on to have a normal type period.
However, I did also experience HEAVY bleeding with DD at around 9 weeks...went to ER, they told me that I miscarried just by what I was telling them and by the ER dr doing a physical exam...well, low and behold when the sono tech came and did the sonogram...there was Ashley on the screen with a strong heartbeat.
I hope this all works out for you....I know how daunting the waiting can be!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
ETA----with both miscarriages, something in my gut just "KNEW" it wasn't right.
