If you got ahouse with no dishwasher what did you do?
I know someone that bought a small counter top dishwasher and it was good enough but a pain bc you had to hook it up to the sink and couldnt use the faucet while running the dishwasher. Any other ideas beisdes redoing the kitchen. TIA

I built a cabinet, ran electricity, ran plumbing and drain, and built a butcher block top to go over the cabinet...

We don't have a dishwasher.
We just wash the dishes by hand
But it is only the 2 of us.

DH thinks they are unsanitary so wasnt an issue for us. For dishes that are extra messy we use paper plates.

We have no dishwasher and still don't. I just deal with it. It can be annoying since i have a baby who uses Dr. Brown bottles with their million pieces but I deal with it. I got used to it. I just don't let dishes pile up that way it's quicker.

i have a dishwasher but its really small and is pretty crappy... i just wash them by hand... it used to be my least favorite thing to do ... but ive actually come to somewhat enjoy it...

my grandma's house didn't have a dishwasher so she got one of those portable ones on wheels and hooked it up to the sink in her laundry room.

we didnt have one but we gutted the kitchen so we have one now. DH still washes his plates cause he thinks a DW is a waste for 2 people.

Our house had no dishwasher when we bought. We bought one from PC Richards. Then hired someone to rip out the existing cabinet next to the sink, run the electric and plumbing.

I always had a dishwasher, but the past 2 years, havn't. It's sooo annoying, but I have a pet peeve of not having ANYTHING in the sink, so I wash as things get put in htere. Some days I feel like Im washing dishes ALLLL day long, other days I feel like I didn't touch the sink once LOL. it all equals out I guess HA. I can't wait till we OWN so we can have a dishwasher HAHA

Wash dishes by hand. It actually doesn't bother me at all and I'm saving water and electric.
I may install one now that we have a kid on the way but I have to say I got used to not having one and I dont mind. There is also many good portable dishwashers.

washing by hand actually uses more water if you leave your faucet running while doing it.
I also find that you can't possibly get the water hot enough by handwashing to sanitize.
But I stand by my original suggestion..paper plates.

ITA! I find a dishwasher sooo much more sanitary. MOF I used a sterile cycle for baby bottles for my 2 kids. You never get the temp as high while washing them by hand. I'd adjust/add the cabinets somehow(like GoldenRod did) and install one. It's a must for us...
