what did/will you get DH for your 1st Anniversary?

My 1st anniversary is on Sunday and I am at a loss.

We will not be spending too much on gifts as he is flying me out to Germany (where he has been on travel for business since June) on Friday and we will be traveling Europe for 9 days.

I just feel like I shouldn't show up empty handed though.

what did/will you get DH for your 1st Anniversary?

Any suggestions?

We are coming up on our 1 year in October as well. We haven't done gifts for anniversaries in so long ( this September will be 13 years together). DH makes way more money than me and I know that even if we set a budget that I could afford - he would end up going over the top for me and I'm just not comfortable with that. So we always give eachother a nice card and go out to dinner or make dinner together. Gifts are nice but sometimes it can be more stressful.

We decided for our 1 year we are gonna take a vacation to Costa Rica together so I doubt we will do gifts on top of that.

I believe that a 1 year anniversary is supposed to be a "paper" anniversary or something like that . How about getting him tickets to something - like a sporting event if he is a fan or a concert of some sort?? I wanted to fly DH to Amsterdam to see Armin Van Buuren (his favorite DJ) but I don't think that will be working out too well on my salary

We went on a cruise for our 1st anniv! That was our gift to each other.

We are going to Europe for 2 weeks!! We tend to enjoy making memories on fabulous trips more then material things.

We usually celebrate with a really nice dinner out and don't really do gifts so much. Unfortunately we can't do a trip this year, so next year we plan on a cruise.

His favorite cologne would be nice. Do you travel a lot? I think I bought a travel bag from Things remembered and had his initials engraved on it.

Good question!!
We can't do anything too expensive. And we do want to do the paper thing... DH isn't a sports fan and he likes Rat Pack type music and Disney music so a concert isn't really an option.

He does like to read so I might buy him a book or two or maybe a card game, since we like playing games.

we just came back from Italy, so that was kind of a 1st anniversary trip. DH really wants a flat screen for his 30th this year, so i was thinking about getting one that will be an anniversary/birthday/christmas present since it is on the expensive side and all are one after the other. if it wasn't for that, i'd be at a loss too!

He'll get a 2 month old from me LOL. But I may also go out and get something on paper... don't know what yet...but isn't that the thing you're supposed to get for the 1st year??

I just bought his gift today bc our anniversary is next week.

I got him Yankee tickets. Paper is the 1 year anniversary gift so this fits! Also, he hasn't been there yet and is dying to go. The best part of the gift (by his standards) is that he can bring whoever he wants----even one of his friends that I can't stand! He's not "forced" to bring me.

we didn't have a lot of money...i got him tickets to ACDC b/c he loves them...i wanted to get him tickets and plan a trip to see his favorite college football team play but it was just too much $ and we couldn't afford it.

He got me the best gift ever. He made a album with our honeymoon pics! It was really sweet. For him I got mets tickets

We are probably just going to dinner at Villa Lombardi's (where we had our wedding). A nice card and that is it.

If possible (depending on him getting time off) he will fly to Italy to meet me in December at the end of my business trip! But that would be the case even if our anniversary wasn't so close to the date
