Last night at dinner...

DH, I, FIL, and FIL's gf went out to dinner and I had mentioned something about a cute baby that I just would take home (you know how people say that about babies and puppies in a playful way) - FIL's gf just stopped dead in her tracks and said - 'uhm no babies for you guys for a while, you have ALOT of living to do'.

We haven't told anyone we are TTC yet - for this reason specifically.. we are buying a house and moving in tomorrow/tuesday.. but *** ... DH and I apparently have our sh!t together and are grown adults and can make our own decisions...

DH didn't have anything to say (he hasnt liked her for the 6+ years he has known her) - but I was a little taken aback...

Guess TTC will be kept hush hush..

Don't be discouraged. A lot of people will always be trying to put their two cents in, in many aspects of life. It's not worth getting so upset. Just shake it off and you and DH do what you guys feel is best for you. NOW, when your time comes to announce that you are PG and she still makes negative comments, then it might be time to put her in her place. When DH and I first got married, my mom was really concerned that we would have babies right away - mostly because she wanted us to take some time to just enjoy being married after all the planning etc. I didn't really take it to heart b/c it's not like we were really "trying" and if it did happen, I'm sure she would have been happy for me.

Just do what I do.. Shake your head, smile and say nothing. Most have too much to say about everything. Why arent you married yet?, then engaged, Why do you want to do that? then married, When you having babies? and it goes on..

What a witch. No wondering she is still just the gf! Whose business is it to her to say something like that. I would not worry about it. You guys seem just fine to be TTC, congrats on the new house btw! I doubt it but maybe she ment you guys are young, and still have time to travel, or stuff like that before you have kids. Even if that is how she ment it which it doesn't seem to be, that is kinda weird on her part.

ugh, I have a friend who says this to me


She is in a COMPLETELY different place in her life and always tell me how I'm not ready for a baby yet. I want to say to her "DH and I will decide what we are ready for and when".

People seriously need to mind there own business!!!!!!!!!!! TTC is a very personal decision!

i HATE this.

people do/say that to me all the time when i talk about wanting a baby. im going to start telling people to mind their own business - i'm sick of people's "two cents"!!!

DH and I hear the same thing so we've just learned to keep it to ourselves. It is upsetting to hear peoples annoying comments during something that is so beautiful but just keep your heads up and do what is best for the two of you. In the end it's not up to everyone else when you have babies if you and your DH are ready that's all you need to know!
