Uneven Milk Production.
My right boob... produces about 3 ounces when I pump..
The left.. 1 ounce or less.
What is going on? I have been trying since last night to pump up my supply on the left side. I have been feeding on the right and then pumping the left. However, each time I pump the left I get less and less milk.
I am afraid that the left side is drying up. DS is only 6 weeks old. He is gaining weight like crazy and the right side seems to be picking up the slack but, I want to get the left side back in the game.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Why would this happen? I am afraid that if the right side produces too much that I will be dealing with clogged ducts and that DS will never be able to get the hind milk because there is just too much milk.

Re: Uneven Milk Production.
Yesterday I pumped about 5 ounces from my left, but only got 1 1/2 from my right. Does DS seem to favor one side or do you nurse more from one side? Try nursing or pumping more often from the side with the lower supply. That may help to even things out. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm pretty sure it's normal to produce a little more on one side than the other.

My right boob is so much bigger than the left and produces more too. But the left side still produces milk too just not as much. You probably favor the right like I do without even realizing it. But its not drying out

My right side always produces significantly more than the left side. It's normal.

Has there always been uneven production, or did it start out of nowhere?
I have always had uneven production as well, but pumping and favoring the side with the less production helped me. It just takes time.

Re: Uneven Milk Production.
I pumped and nursed for over a year with both of my boys and one side always produced more than the other.

Same here. Even when I pump, I notice that the milk pours out of the right & trickles out of the left. The left does produce but my flow is much slower & there is definitely less milk.

Re: Uneven Milk Production.
I guess I'll just accept that this is the way it is. I don't want to drive myself nuts and ruin nursing. It was always slower on the left but, it has gotton significantly worse. But, then randomly I will get a bunch of milk from that side. Weird.
