if they are neighbors then talk to the parents if they are hitting your car...otherwise i don't see a problem with kids playing on their block Chat Icon

I love the sound of kids playing as long as they aren't screaming. In the summer the sound of the kids playing in the lake travels up to my house & I love it, its such a good sound to hear happy kids.

yes it woudl bother me very much! In my area the kids run around and scream their head off, It's too much! at that point, the parents should take them to a park so everyone else is not affected

Re: Does this bother anyone else?

not at all. I would only worry about the car getting hit but there are so many other noises that are so much worse than kids playing...like car alarms and boom boxes you know. I would rather the kids play and have fun rather than be on a street selling drugs and havign to hear cop cars all day.

No, it wouldn't bother me at all. Actually, just reading that brought me back to my childhood, and all the neighborhood kids playing together in and around our houses. I guess its different if they're playing tag in your bushes or using your cars as bases, but just playing, it wouldn't bother me.

I agree! We acutally used to play "manhunt" and all neighbors front yards were fair game but we knew all the neighbors.

Truthfully, I am happy to have that type of noise because one of the reasons we chose our neighborhood is because of the family friendly nature.

It wouldn't bother me as long as they are not constantly trampling my landscape and banging on my cars. Once or twice is an accident but all the time is being careless. If it came to it, I'd tell them that I'd love to see them play but please don't trample the flowers, etc.

Re: Does this bother anyone else?

for us it's not kids, but ADULTS that make us Chat Icon

we live in the middle of port jeff village, and some of the people who come on a sat night really grate our nerves... there are 20-something guys who screech their tires and speed off while still in a busy parking lot (one I frequently carry my sleeping baby through Chat Icon ). there are loud drunk couples who are yelling the crudest things... I can hear them from my bedroom window.... I don't know why they have to be sooooo loud. Never mind the couples who are arguing Chat Icon

all of this often goes on until after 1am Chat Icon

at least the kids are generally inside by 9pm......

next evening you're in port jeff, take a look around at how the adults are behaving... then think of us... overhearing all of it!

Re: Does this bother anyone else?

Normally I like to hear the sound of kids playing outdoors, BUT we are having a similar issue with our next door neighbors.

They play baseball in their backyard all the time (they have a diamond in their backyard and the fence between our properties is the backstop) and most of their foul balls end up in our yard. It was never an issue UNTIL we had little ones running around in the yard. Now I worry about the speed in which these balls come flying in. Chat Icon

The boys have destroyed the fence, which is theirs, but my DH has been repairing it: 1. he's handy and 2. their father recently had a stroke and is still in a rehab facility so we obviously aren't about to approach them now about the fence issue.

My DH has even gone to lengths of looking at batting cages and/or making one for them so we don't have the danger of the balls hitting our kids and so they'll stop destroying the fence.

I can't even walk around my bedroom naked during the day & evening because the boys could be in my backyard collecting baseballs at any given time. Chat Icon

kids are kids. I mean, the weather is warmer they are going to be outside. You cant stop it. If they bother you so much you should have moved to a neighborhood with none. Unless they are on your property where they can get hurt, you really cant say anything.

Actually this is what scares me b/c neighborhoods change...new families and generations of kids!

Re: Does this bother anyone else?

Yes. I never complain about it to anyone, but as summer comes & the packs of kids (there are tons on my block) are running all over the place & screaming their heads off & playing baseball in the street right in front of my house, I just wish they'd go somewhere else. I'm not a kid hater at all but I do find it annoying.

Re: Does this bother anyone else?

I don't mind as long as they are being respectful. I would rather see kids playing outside rather then sitting in front of the TV playing video games all day.

Re: Does this bother anyone else?

No, it wouldn't bother me. I grew up where driveways are and were to be used for cars.

I have fond memories of playing in the neighborhood street - rollerblading, biking, playing ball, playing hockey, etc. All the neighbors kids came out and played together.

And as a positive, it was the parents way of keeping an eye on their kids vs us having to bike up to a park where anything can happen on the trip up/back/there.

I agree. I'd let them know you don't mind the playing in the street, but your car has been hit a few times and you asked the kids to be careful and if they would remind their kids to be careful because they will be responsible for the bill if there is any damage.
