spinoff to name telling: does it freak you out when people refer to the unborn baby by name?

There's a certain member of DH's family that is RELENTLESS! S/He constantly refers to my unborn child as Logan (as opposed to "the baby", i guess) and it weirds me out a little bit! S/He even went as far as to address an EASTER card to him!

i guess i could understand using his name...but an Easter card? Really? IMO that is just going a little too far!!! It would weird me out!!!

my mom keeps doing it as well as a few friends and the one day I said who?
No name is official until we sign the birth certificate and its just weird to hear it (at least for me)

no - to be honest, it melts my heart....and when Dave does it - i tear up EVERY time...since he normally refers to her as baby or tiny one or something...

he got her a pink bat pen at the yankee game the other day and called me (i was away) to tell me and he said, 'oh and i got Emma something little too' and i just started crying (and to be honest, i'm tearing up WRITING this)...

We've already picked a name for but until she is born, I still refer to her as "baby girl."

Not really. DH and I refer to her by her name now and it's become more like second nature I guess. Family members will say "we can't wait for baby Avery to arrive" and that doesn't bother me. I guess maybe because we had her name picked out for so long. I sometimes refer to her as "the baby" though too. Like "the baby's room is not done" and whatnot.

YES! We have a name we will most likely use, but I would never call him that before he's actually here. I want to see him first and I reserve the right to change my mind at any time - in fact, DH is wavering already! Also, we already know the gender - where's the surprise if we already have been calling him a certain name too!

See, I am the opposite. One of the reasons we wanted to find out the sex ahead of time was so that we CAN call her by HER name!
I think it is very cute!

My DH and I have little nicknames for her, but for the most part we and our family call her by her name all of the time.

I love it like that!

My mom even gave her a gift for Easter and a card! Too me its adorable and I would never stop them from doing it.

But that is JMO.

yes. that is why I am never telling.

and also why I am not finding out the sex.

until my baby is borned, I don't want to associate the name to it in such a concrete way.

there have been many losses in my family, and to ME, it was harder when the baby was personified in that way.

I would be more ok with it if dh and I referred to her by name but we dont (at least not yet) so I dont think anyone else should

DH and I refer to by his name already and its slowly becoming normal to do so. But when my ILs do it (constantly) it kind of weirds me out for some reason. Maybe I'm just being stupid...I dont know why its okay for me and DH to do it, but weird when the ILs do it??

i wouldnt mind. i actually cant wait till i can start calling the baby by name and stop calling the baby "it".

I like it when DH calls our baby by her name because it's kind of like a little secret between him, her and me.

We haven't told anyone her name though specifically because I don't want people calling her by her name until she is born (and also, I want that to be a surprise since the gender is not a surprise).

My dad already "sent" him to space. Apparently there was a sattelitte that was being sent up and you could submit a name and have it sent to space. I have a certificate with the little one's name on it

That's kinda why we don't want to tell anyone before the baby is born. I don't want things painted with the baby's name on it or people calling her by her name yet.

Yes it makes me feel weird which is why we are not telling people her name. Maybe I'm superstitious but we don't want to call her by her name until she is here in person!

Yes I absolutely HATE that. I would tell someone to stop I hate it that much.

if it was MY family, I'd have no issue telling them to stop...butttt it's the ILs. and things aren't awesome there to begin with.

i actually hated the idea of it and refused to tell my family the name of the baby because of that very reason.

It really doesn't bother me & I am a culprit...Whenever I talk to my belly, I always say "JJ" just so that the baby gets use to hearing his name
