Mom's of boys, I have a question and I'm a little worried...UPDATED
After bathing Jared last night, I noticed that one of his testicles is swollen and enlarged. I looked at it closer and it seems to have some blue color to it as well. When I ask Jared if it hurts he tells me no. I'm going to call the doctor today but I just wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience.

Update...so we were able to get an earlier appointment.
The doctor said there is fluid in the one testicle and it looks like it is a hernia. He even said that his own son had this happen to him.
We have to make another appointment with a doctor at LIJ. They said it's common and the procedure is simple.

Not trying to scare you, but I remember a mother on here had to have her son's testicle removed and he had similar symptoms. I'd call the doctor immediately

I would call the doctor to be safe.  Let us know how you make out.

OK, that was me (the mother whose son had his testicle removed).
honestly, call the doctor immediately and I would even say go to the ER if they can't get you in NOW. If it is a torsion (where is twists) you have about 8 hours before he will lose it because no blood is getting to it. by catching is quick enough they will take him in and untwist it and it will be fine.
Please just act quick!!
I'm not trying to scare you but if that is what happened to my son I'd rather you please just go and get it checked immediately.

Yes...my firend Luciana's son had the same thing. He had to have surgery.  He is FINE now, but it needs to be seen immediately.

With no underwear on, lay him on his back and lightly tickle the inside of his thigh near the testicle, but not touching the testicle. If the testicle retracts when you lightly tickle it hasn't gotten fully twisted yet.
I would definately call the dr ASAP, even if it retracts or not!
My DS just went through this, but hadn't gotten fully twisted. Everyday the surgeon told us to do this to make sure it hadn't gotten to emergency level. Everytime his testicle retracted back up. Eventually, he had surgery to close the hernia.

we had gotten a couple of recommendations for Dr. Brock from here. However, we ended up going to Dr. Terry Hensle, in the city though, and he is great!

We're going in today to see the doctor...this afternoon.
It's weird. Sometimes it's swollen and blue and other times it looks normal. Like this morning, after I got off of here, he went to the bathroom and I looked at it. Not swollen at all. Very strange.
