Union or Union-Free S.D.?
Using some of the resources provided in other links, I'm going to do some comparing and contrasting with regards to this question. But I thought I'd ask you all too....Does the union status impact the quality of the education in any way?

Re: Union or Union-Free S.D.?
Union Free means that you have the option of joining the union, not that there is not a union.

No this is incorrect.
Union free school district mean that it's not joined with another district.
The word Union in terms of the district name has NOTHING to do with the teacher's union it has to do with whether or not it is a consolidated school district

Wow...news to me. Thank you. So, does this mean that in every school district, the teachers have the option of joining the union?

As far as I know, all public school teachers are mandated to join a union. It's not an option. This is a labor union.
The definition of a Union Free School District: A union free school district is a district resulting from a "union" of multiple common school districts, "free" from the restrictions that previously barred them from operating high schools. Union free school districts are governed by a board of education composed of between three and nine members.

You don't HAVE to join the teacher's union, you can be an agency payer. You get the benefits of the union's negoticing for you as all other members but you are not a member, member though you do pay something.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. I think that the quality of education is the same in both. I don't see how it would impact it.
