Re: Inductions

I was induced at 38w due to health issues. My cervix was closed and long so I went into the hospital on a Tuesday night to get the cervidel inserted. Stayed overnight and on Wednesday morning around 10 they started the Pitocin. My ds was born at 6:25pm that evening. My labor did stall but they just upped the meds and it started up again. I did not need a c-section. My sister has been induced for 2 of her kids and neither resulted in a section. Good luck Chat Icon

Re: Inductions

I was induced 11 days before my due date b/c of health issues. After 24 hours, I had barely dialated, so they decided to do a c-section. I did not enjoy being induced - it was a really long process and after about 12 hours, I wasn't able to get out of bed at all. That was probably the worst part of it for me. I would have rathered have a c-section from the get-go. I hope things go smoothly for you either way. Good luck!Chat Icon

Re: Inductions

I was induced at 39 weeks bc I had preeclampsia. I had cervedil at midnight on Thursday, was checked 12 hours later and was 2-3cms, I got pitocin by 2pm, my epi a little later and slept until 9pm when they woke me up to push. I pushed for 1 hour and DS was born at 9:59pm.

My induction went beautifully, the worst part with the insertion of the cerv. And I think most other people's are easier, I couldn't get up and walk around at all b/c of the monitors I was on.

Re: Inductions

I was induced at 39w5d. I had GD and DD was estimated to weigh about 9.5lbs. My induction failed and I had a c-section.

Re: Inductions

I was induced at 41 weeks...when I was admitted to the hospital for a scheduled induction, they found I was already starting mild contractions on my own (didn't feel them). I thankfully did not need Cervadil, and just 1 round of Pitocin. I delivered vaginally 7 hours later.

Re: Inductions

i was induced and didn't have a section. Labor was 14 hours with Pit. Cervadil wasn't good for me...tentanic contractions after 45 minutes, so we had to stop it.

Re: Inductions

ME - but the induction was not the cause of my c-section. I needed a c-scetion because DS was transverse. They tried turning him, different positions, etc but nothing worked. If he was facing the right way I would not have needed a c-section.

Re: Inductions

I was induced at 37w5d. Zero effacement or dilation and I still had DD naturally. My induction was exactly 12 hours start to finish.

Re: Inductions

I was induced and had DD vaginally. I responded so well to the cervadil that as soon as it came out, I went into labor and had DD 4hours later. No pitocin needed. Overall, it was a good experience.

Re: Inductions

We chose to induce both times and gave birth naturally.

Many times the difference is if you have started dilating or not....I had both times, but got stuck at 4 cm before induction.

And if I can make it to next week, I'll induce again

ETA: I was given pitocin for induction and I delivered DD about 9 hours later. Everything progressed beautifully and I wasn't anywhere near giving birth before the induction.

Re: Inductions

Hey there Liz,

I had to be induced after my water broke because I had the Strep B and the baby had a bowl movement. My doctor wanted to get the baby out as quickly as possible so I was given Pitocin. I was only dilated 1cm at the time of induction. By three cm's I had a csection. But after the baby was born no matter what I would have had a csection because of the short umbilical cord. Hope this helps.

I had a nice induction! It was looooooooooong, but not terrible, in the end I had a really nice natural birth. Just get the epidural early.
