It gave me 3 options saying
1)didnt recognize my ss#
20 didnt file tax return
3) still processing (WTH...I thought they had up until may 9th)?

Did you deduct e filing or preparation fees from your 2007 tax refund?
We did, and according to that, we are getting a paper check now
We should have been in the 2nd batch to get direct deposit by may 9th and nope i haven't received ours yet either.

On the IRS website (Someone posted a thlink in a thread earlier this week) it was stated that the person whose SS was listed FIRST was the one they used as the primary. It didn't matter if it was the husbnad or wife, or if was the lower or higher #.

Paulette, did you file electronically and have your filing fee deducted from your refund? If you did that, you get a paper check.

That is absolutely untrue. Whoever you choose to list first on the tax return is the taxpayer. It is completely your and your spouses decision as to who you want to list first. True, most people do put the man first, but it is up to you as to who you want to be the taxpayer and who you want to be the spouse. Out of 1200 tax returns I prepare, maybe 5 have the female's name first. You can even switch it every year if you want listing the wife first one year and the husband first the next, but the IRS hates that

I do have to agree with this, even if everyone else go thiers it doesn't help determine if there's a problem with yours.
I posted this number on another thread as well - just call the IRS rebate hotline and see if you can find out the status that way!

Unfortunately when refunds are lost in the mail the IRS takes a few weeks to trace it and a few weeks to re-issue it, but the sooner you contact them to see if there is a problem, the sooner it can be re-issued if it is lost. Good luck!
