Re: Anyone do temping?

I did, but I never saw a drop or a spike. But from what I hear, if you do it correctly and you are Oing then it works.

Re: Anyone do temping?

Temping can be very helpful in showing when you ovulate, however, it will only tell you after the fact, it can't be used to predict when ovulation is going to come.
Keeping track of your CM and OPK's will help you determine when you are going to ovulate.
I am sorry you are so frustrated, I totally know how you feel.Chat Icon

actually, for me it can

i ALWAYS drop a little in my temp right before i "O"

the day before my temp shoots way above the cover line, it goes down anywhere from .2-.5

Re: Anyone do temping?

I do not temp. To be completely honest, I found it to be a total PITA and I found it extremely difficult to remain compliant to the process. I don't necessarily wake up the exact same time everyday (meaning on weekends) and the slightest movement can have a affect on your temp so I never felt it was that reliable.

I do however recommend the CBEFM, so far it's been very user friendly.

I wasn't being rude, I asked a question. You specifically posted a thread on the morning of the 22nd, saying you were no longer posting here.

i will NOT be on TTC anymore

Now two days later you're here posting. I was surprised to see this.

There's no need to call me rude.

CLEARLY, your post was not to remind me of my own prior posts, but to be somewhat nasty

and im sure that is why no one else responded

Re: Anyone do temping?

perhaps we can drop the back and forth and return to the original question

i temped at first and found it annoying but it did tell me when i o'd but after the fact which is the usual case and they will tell you that in any book,
but if you want to double check it couldn't hurt, but i would def still use opk,
i bought a CBEFM and really like it, i personally can't hold it for 4 hours in the afternoon, the cbefm lets you use first urine of the day so when you wake up and it also gives you a window of about 2 hours before and after you set it, so if you set it at 6am when you get AF you can use it anywhere from 4-8, it is a little costly but i got mine on ebay and it was a little cheaper

hope that helps

Like I said, I was just asking a question. If you didn't like it, you didn't have to answer me.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it but please keep in mind, you don't know me from a hole in the wall so please don't assume you "CLEARLY" know why I asked what I asked.

Again, your opinion, you're entitled to it. As far as I can tell, no one else responded to the thread b/c no one else seems to be around.

I wouldn't be surprised if our little exchange here has nothing to do with no one responding.

If anyone else wants to reply to the OP they will. If they don't, they won't.

And if anyone wants to involve themselves in this exchange between you and me, they can too. It's a public forum, all are welcome.

Re: Anyone do temping?

I temped when my RE told me to. I was compliant because I needed to be. I got PG 3 out of 5 possible times. It was a PITA like Jennie said, but it was essential for me. It also helped my RE to see if there were any defects in my cycle.

Re: Anyone do temping?

I temp and have found it really helpful. If you are charting to achieve pregnancy and not to prevent it (which of course you are! Chat Icon ) and you just want to pinpoint ovulation then you can be somewhat lax about when you temp. If you know generally when you will ovulate, then you don't have to temp throughout your period. Also, after you ovulate, you don't have to take it either.

Like everyone else here has said, it won't tell you when you're going to ovulate, but it will tell you that you did after the fact - which is helpful in determining your LP and when you should expect your period. It's also helpful for your doctor to have your charts to determine just what's going on with your cycle.

Hope that helps - feel free to FM if you have any questions.

Re: Anyone do temping?

I started charting my temp. last month. Its not too bad. You just have to take the temperature the same time every day.I also use and OPK. Before getting started I read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I found it very helpful. I actually like charting my temp. I like to see that thermal shift. Good Luck.

I was already temping but only continued b/c my RE told me to also. However, temping really can only tell you after you've already o'ed b/c you're not supposed to take only 1 temp into account but the pattern of temps. That being said, I typically get a temp dip the day I o and the next day get a temp spike so I'm usually pretty confident that I o'ed (especially b/c on the day of the temp dip my CM is usually starting to dry up).

IMO, it's probably worth it to you to use OPKs and temp. That way you know in advance when you are about to O and temping can confirm that you are def oing. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is very helpful, take a look.

Good luck!

Re: Anyone do temping?

I started temping this month. I find temping AND using the opks are pretty helpful. It is a pain to wake up on the weekends, but not too bad. When I notice any slight change in my temp..higher or lower, I use the OPK's to see if I am or have O'd. It worked this month and we BD'd on the days I either spiked or dropped, so cross your fingers.

I'm trying temping methods along with my own neurotic methods..hahaha.

Good luck ladies!

Re: Anyone do temping?

I temped for a few months after the pill to ensure ovulation, after that it got to be annoying. I did find it helpful to see that I was ovulating though. I saw a definite temp shift.

I highly recommend temping. It is the only way other then a blood test to confirm you have in fact ovulated.

I thought it was going to be horrible to set my alarm for 5:45 am on the weekends, but I take my temp, and go right back to sleep. I have actually really enjoyed getting know my body, and have recommend it to my other girl friends.

It also made me realize I have a short LP, which I would never have known if I had not started to take my temp, and could have caused me months of unsuccessful conception and or miscarriages.

Good luck and lots of Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

me too, totally agree, i saw the same things and i temp at the same time, 545

only i have a LONG LP!!
