Re: Sort of off topic
we're actually debating about this now...we just bought a house that we are very comfortable in and if want to be a SAHM we would have no problem doing, but we are actually looking to buy another home and renting the one we have now out and if we do that, I would most likely have to go back and work, whether it be some at home and some in the city, so we have no idea what to do!!!!!

Re: Sort of off topic
I'm already a mom. I work part-time & go to school part-time (which is why it's taking a million years to graduate ). I'll be doing the same when baby #2 comes along.

Re: Sort of off topic
Im a SAHM now. It was easier when DS was born because DH has a great job. This time around I may have to go back to work. DH got laid off from the good job and has a ok job. We are doing good but with another child we may need more than just his income to get through. I guess when the time comes we will know for sure in what direction to go in.
I really want to be a SAHM again so I hope everything works out.

I will be a working mom
DH and I are very fortunate that we could live on either one of our salaries, but having a career is very important to me and I plan to go back to work full-time after I have a baby.

Re: Sort of off topic
We have the means for me to be able to be a SAHM. When I do get pregnant, my intention right now is to take extended maternity leave (6 months) and then take it from there. My DH feels (as do I), that it would be good for me to go back to work, even if it's only 3 days per week. We'll just have to see when the time comes.

Re: Sort of off topic
Well, I no longer work full time now-- I had to leave my job because I was incredibly stressed out. I am working freelance now, and we'll see how that goes long term. I plan to take a year off after having a kid, then will go back to work full time-- if I can find something that is less stressful. Perhaps I will continue to work freelance if that works out-- but, by then, we;ll probably be living in the burbs and I refuse to commute to Manhattan, which is where all my contacts are.

Re: Sort of off topic
Well, not sure how it's going to work for us. My Mom has been talking about retirement which would be good either way because either she can watch the baby while I work or she can give us some money to pay off debt so I can stay home.

I would loooooooooooove to be a SAHM, but I just don't think it's possible. I am hoping that I can find a way to work from home, at least PT.

Re: Sort of off topic
I work full-time now and our hours usually clash one another. Money is tight now so who knows what will happen once we get preggo and what happens after I have a baby.
DH would love for me to be a SAHM eventually. I don't want to be the mom thats misses so much because of the type of job I do.

Re: Sort of off topic
I wish I could be a SAHM for awhile, but there is no way we can afford it. I'll take the two months paid by the company, plus my vacation time. Then hopefully I can work from home 2 or three days a week for at least the first 6 months.

I would like to be SAHM, but do not think it's financially possible. I hope to take 3-6 months off.
