Total scam.
My sister has run out of gas on occassion and was stranded on the side of the road . . . now that's being out of gas (stupid, but out of gas). In any event, she walked her azz to a payphone and called my dad . . . when he wasn't home, she called her friend. Either way, you ask someone you know, not drive around and ask strangers.

scam.
few weeks ago a guy did the same thing to us in a parking lot, he was standing outside the car. We give him a few dollars, only to later see him get in his car and drive off there was a gas station a block down but he went right by it.

Scam... Someone did this to my father but instead he showed up on the front door of the house at night saying he was out of gas... Maybe they were thinking a female would answer the door but my dad is a pretty tall guy... In return the guy gave my father his "gold" watch as collateral and my dad gave him like $5... He never came back for the "gold" watch....
It's a shame that we have to always be sketpical of people but in this day and age, you have to be... And she didn't have a cell... She could have went into stop and shop and asked to use their phone...

This whole thing was bothering me all last night. Plus, DD was cranky and wouldn't sleep so I had plenty of time to think.
I just can't believe that people have such balls to pull these scams! Obviously this scam works at least some of the time or she wouldn't be wasting her time driving around supermarket parking lots.
At least DH told me he was proud of me (sometimes I don't think when I do things). Imagine if I leaned over to actually look at the gas guage, she could have cracked me over the head and ran off with my bag. Like I said, I was robbed in my home (and the way I got out of that was kind of dangerous) so I am not as trusting as I used to be.

this happened to us on monday on the way home from tanger at ext 57 on the lie. a girl with reddish hair asking for money saying she was from babylon.

My dad and DH always say the same thing. You get distracted and they could do something horrible in that split second. Yay for you! Even if it means being rude to people, too bad, your well being comes first.
It is sad we have to feel that way, but we do.
