Was She Scamming.....?
I was walking to my car in the parking lot of the Stop & Shop in Woodbury and a woman in a dark minivan pulled up to me and told me she was out of gas and had no money....she then invited me to look at her gas gauge....first of all, I am not sticking my head in your car to look at the gas gauge....I was held at gunpoint in my home a few years ago and my mom was robbed at gunpoint in the Broadway Mall parking lot, so maybe I am just skeptical and scared.
She then proceeded to tell me how nasty people have been to her. I started to feel bad, but apologized and declined to give her money.
I was in the middle of suggesting she go to the police station down the road and she took off.
Do you think she was for real or was she pulling a scam?

If youre out of gas, why wouldnt you call someone to give you a ride to a gas station? Or call the cops?

SCAM... if she truly was low(and oh yeah i have had a broken gas gauge) on gas she would have not took off the way she did as she would run out even faster

Total scam! That has happened to me a few times in the past year and it is really annoying. One time this guy was like" I just drove up here from FL and left my wallet at home can you just put some gas in my tank so I can get back to the hotel" I told him I had no money I used my credit card and he was like I will just pull my car up and fill up the tank, I was so freaked out I sped off.

I think you did the right thing! That's the store I'll stop in to pick some things up on my way home from work... Such a big parking lot, you need to be careful!

If you were out of gas WHY IN THE WORLD would you be driving around wasting gas asking for money for gas.

YES!!!
I used to work at the Barnes and noble on 110. I was with my ex-boyfriend at the time (we worked there together) - we were young and naive, and this guy came over and gave us the whole "out of gas and money " spiel... We gave him 5 bucks...
well, wouldnt you know he came up to us the very next night... "I ran out of gas, and have no money"
I looked at him and said, "AGAIN?????"
The guy booked outta there so fast....

Scam- I had one come up to me looking all dishelveled and claimed her boyfriend left her at a club the night before with no money and no way home. Sorry but call a friend- here's a quarter.

If she was legit, she would have friends or family to help her out.
I guarantee you, your $ would not go into the car but into her liver or her arm or up her nose!

Sounds like a scam to me.
Besides...if she had enough gas to drive around asking for money then she should have tried to get as close to home as possible on those "fumes" rather than waste it begging. IMO
