Similac Sensitive/maybe all Similac users

Hey guys,
Sorry to crash but I wanted to share with you my niece's issue cause it may be affecting your baby. My niece will be 5 months old on Sunday, and in the beginning, she was a great eater. She has been on Similac Sensitive (not the RS) since she's 2 weeks old (ready to feed, not powdered). Around 6/7 weeks ago, they changed the label on the formula but it was the same color, same name, same notations. It seemed weird that at the same time, the baby started screaming after her feedings, and would then throw up. The doctor said she has acid reflux. We all thought this was strange because the baby never spit up until that point. Yesterday I happened to be at my mother's and she had a bottle of the "old" formula and a bottle of the "new" formula so I decided to compare ingredients. The new Similac Sensitive has an ingredient the other doesn't and the ingredient has an asterisk next to it that says, from a milk source. Turns out the new ingredient is lactose. The "old" formula said lactose free and for babies with lactose sensitivity. The new one says for babies with lactose sensitivity...so why would the add lactose? When I figured it out, my sister immediately called Similac and they said to try the Similac Sensitive R.S. which has no lactose. They just changed the packaging on it and it will look different on shelves soon. My niece started the R.S. immediately and not only is the throwing up gone, so is the congestion she developed when starting the "new" formula. Point of post is this: the new bottles look like Similac just hired a new graphic designer but that's not the case. If your baby starts changing in some way, check the ingredients. HTH!

Update: baby has not spit up/thrown up at all, and has no congestion today. She no longer sounds like a pug dog!!

Similac Senstive RS is Milk-based, lactose-free.

what does that mean?

Meaning it is not soy based but it didn't have lactose in it. The "new" sensitive has Galactooligosaccharide which is lactose added to it.

ETA: the RS does not have Galactooligosaccharide

galacto-oligosaccharide is a prebiotic. it is a digested form of lactose, not actual lactose.
