Similac Sensitive RS users come on in!
Our ped switched DS to this formula yesterday because of bouts of gassiness, spit-up and crying that has been happening the last couple of weeks. He had been taking 5-6 oz. 5 times a day, but now on this new formula he only wanted 3-4 oz. 6 times today. Did you notice that your DC wanted less of this formula because it was thicker and filled them up? Or do you think maybe he just needs to get used to this new formula? I don't mind feeding him more often during the day, I just don't know if I should be trying to get him to eat more at each feeding now. TIA!

Re: Similac Sensitive RS users come on in!
I just did the opposite switch, we had been on Sensitive (the orange one - not sure if it's the same), now we are trying to get back on Advance. She is taking less at the nighttime feeding for some reason. She was doing 5 ounces 5 times a day. Now the 4 day feedings are 5 ounces and she finishes them. I just put her to bed and she left 2.5 over - but she gagged if I tried to put the bottle in her mouth and she has a history of vomitting so I didn't want to end up wearing the 2.5 ounces. I figure she's adjusting to the change so she'll get used to it, she's pretty gassy, but it's not foul smelling (I mean clear the room and we don't have a dog to blame it on) like it used to be which is why we had to switch to the sensitive. Just hope she sleeps tonight. She started sleeping through the night real well this week so it kind of stinks to change the formula if it's going to make her wake up again.

Re: Similac Sensitive RS users come on in!
My DD seems to take the same but we've been on this since about 1-2 months old. It may be because it's thicker and harder to get out of the bottle till they get used to it. We've had to go up a size in nipples on the bottles alot earlier so it didnt get clogged and she wasn't fighting with the bottle. I think its just an adjusting phase and as soon as you DC gets used to it, it will be the same feeding schedule.

On the bright side, even though he took fewer ounces yesterday he still slept from 9:45 last night until, well, he's still sleeping! (it's 7:55 in the morning) We tried the next nipple size up yesterday thinking that would help him get more out, but he just dribbled all over the place and I don't think it was helping. I just never know if I should give him more because he's being a lazy eater (as if he's snacking instead of *eating*) or if he really can't take more because of the reflux. Ugh, I never thought feeding could be so confusing!

Can I ask why you're going back to Advance? Did your DD end up having a reaction to the Sensitive?

We used to use this when she was younger, it's MUCH thicker than the others so she could just be getting full faster with it!!!

I noticed the same thing. DS was switched at approx 4 months and he started to take less formula per feeding. It helped him SOOO much.

I didn't notice, but once we switched to the RS, DD was a like a whole new baby - no more spitting up or fussiness!
Although hard to find, that stuff really worked for her!
Good luck!
