When dd was a toddler I took her to pm peds and then to her ped the next day for a rash and they thought two totally different things. Last month she had a rash they said roseola and her fever definitely won't come back. Guess what? Fever came back that night so they were wrong. What is the point in going to the doctor for them to guess at what it is?
There are whole books worth of rashes in kids in medicine. Many look the same. Some are distinct (strep looks very specific). An experienced ped or derm should look at a new rash. If your kid has had many rashes and many bouts of eczema (like I did as a kid), you know what the rash is probably and you probably have the stuff to treat it... but I’ve seen everything from allergy to detergent, strep, active chicken pox (even after vaccine), eczema, poison ivy, to rug burn on kids. Even if the ped is wrong, they are following you and will examine further or send to specialist if treatment doesn’t work. I had 3 pediatric derm appointments to see a bump on my kid. Third one was key, but things look the same and sometimes how it responds to treatment is part of the picture.

I would be sure to hide that shit anyway I could even if it meant putting concealer on it. How much school are they going to miss over eczema? Would drive me mad too.

Um, yeah. How is a parent supposed to hold down a job with that nonsense?
I would start refusing to get her and if that were an issue I'd pull her out and put her in private school because private school is cheaper than unemployment. Ridiculous.

Uggh, it was worse this morning so I took her to the doctor. Just hives and not much more we can do but I'm glad to know it's at least not contagious.

I would've kept her home, it could be an allergic reaction or something contagious. A kid in my son's pre-school class came to school with impetigo and a few other kids got it. Impetigo is highly contagious but the mom didn't know and sent him in. Benadryl makes my kids very sleepy they would have passed out in class
