Why did the teacher not know your child has food allergies ?
That's what I would focus on - who's responsibility is to let the teacher and any subs know ?

Does your child have a 504 for food allergies? I would be livid...beyond livid. It's a good thing your child only had a mild reaction.

Ugh! How did d this happen? My son has severe food allergies and I have made it VERY clear. NO ONE gives him food BUT me. If the are having any food related activities in school I can give specific permission for him to eat certain things (like an apple on apple tasting day...). That is it. What has the teacher been instructed regard giving him food?

Without all the information, I think I'd be inclined to keep her in the class. I would hope she'd be extra vigilant after this incident, even more so then someone else or someone you know, being she made the mistake. But it's tough to say without really knowing the individual.

Could you request a formal meeting with the teacher, princpal/director to review your daughters allergy plan in full detail? That's probably what I'd do. Even with a new teacher.

My answer would depend on the age of your child. Is your DD old enough to know her allergens?

I would be worried it's a systems issue.
Why it wasn't caught is worrisome.
My kids have to bring in their own snacks and sharing is not allowed in the school.
No food items can be brought in for other kids (no cupcakes for birthdays or anything else).
Honestly, with so many allegies, this should be standard.

Oh in this case I would probably leave the preschool. That is a HUGE mistake IMO. HUGE.

I would honestly have a meeting with the school principal.
I wouldn't be angry... just say that it was a lucky thing and they have to learn from it and change behavior.

I would not put the responsibility on the teacher (they forget/ may have misread ingredients).

With severe and multiple allergies, your kid, especially at 3 should not be eating food from others. Whether to not allow any food exchange or just your kid should be isolated from food exchange is different in each school.

My kids DONT have allergies... but after being in 2 systems, I think the best is having no food sharing. Broke my heart to see a kid be excluded.

I didn't see your original post before it was deleted but my daughter is also 3 with multiple severe food allergies. Luckily her whole school is totally nut free but she is also allergic to all forms of dairy, egg and sesame.

Her preschool provides snacks but they know not to give her any. I pack all of her own food. Kids are allowed to bring in cupcakes or whatever they want for birthdays but my daughter just doesn't partake. I give them a few packages of Oreos to keep for when there are special events in the school. She doesn't seem bothered by it but I wonder how it will be once she's older.
