Brushing Teeth- 15 months
I started brushing DD's teeth at about a year. Before that, she used her banana toothbrush teether, but I never put toothpaste on it, she just chewed on it. It's clear she doesn't like the toothpaste flavor (I can't blame her, it's nasty) even though I've tried a few different ones. But she still did it. All of a sudden, she absolutely refuses to have her teeth brushed. Like screaming bloody murder. I've tried brushing our teeth together or letting her brush mine with her toothbrush but she still won't brush hers. Any ideas on what to do? Or maybe a toothpaste your LO liked? She still drinks milk from a bottle, but water from her sippy cups, and occasionally juice boxes. More often than not she doesn't need a bottle to sleep at night, but sometimes if she's fussy I'll give her a bottle with water. I'm so afraid to give her milk at night and rot her teeth. She has 11!

Re: Brushing Teeth- 15 months
At that age they do tend to go through phases where they suddenly freak out over things they used to be fine with. For DD it was the bath. She was fine and then all of a sudden a little after a year old she was scream bloody murder anytime we bathed her. It was awful.
At that age all the toothpastes are fluoride free so it's not like they are really doing much to prevent cavities. You can try some other flavors of the training toothpaste though- what flavor is it that she doesn't seem to like? But it could be just a phase/control thing. Will she let you brush with just water on the brush?

I would just be persistent and stick with it and she'll probably get over it pretty quickly. Like pp said, try Judy using water if she doesn't like the toothpaste. We usually sang songs as a distraction or offered something to play with she wouldn't normally be allowed. You can also try different places, laying on the changing table or just try to sneak in while she's walking around playing.

At that age I let my phone chew on the toothbrush while there was some toothpaste on it and then did a quick swipe. Probably not ideal but he would scream bloody murder whenever I tried to do more. When he was a bit older, I let him do his morning and night brushing. After he brushed at night, I checked his back teeth and would brush them for him. He hated that part. I had to literally pin him down.
Now at 3, we follow the same routine but he cooperates. He said he doesn't want his teeth to get boo boos so he is very diligent about it.

They're all fruity flavors. But I don't really see anything else. But now I guess she's expecting the toothpaste taste so she won't even let me near her face with the toothbrush even if it's just water. I think I might try and get a new brush so she doesn't realize that's what it is and just go with water for now.

Hmm that's a good idea, too, maybe I'll try doing it downstairs or in her room. We've always brushed in the bathroom.
Thanks everyone! I always had such a fear of the dentist and never took great care of my teeth until recently so I really want to get her into good habits early!

This. When I try to brush her teeth she screams "I DO IT" and walks around the house moving her entire body back and forth instead of the toothbrush. It's adorable but there's no way her teeth are getting cleaned and honestly, most days I don't have the energy to argue.

Re: Brushing Teeth- 15 months
So I gave her the toothbrush last night in her room as I was getting her changed for bed and let her chew on it. At first she refused it but I pretended to brush my teeth with her brush and she got into it. I'm going to hold off on the toothpaste for now and reintroduce in a few weeks when she seems more comfortable with brushing again. Thanks!

I use the JASON Kids brand - my kids tend to tolerate that one when they were little. Sometimes they do it willingly, and other I have to chase them down.
