favors for a baptism yay or nay?

We had ours at a Chinese restaurant and I made chocolate covered fortune cookies. Edible favors are my favorite kind.

We didn't do favors for adults, only kids, but we had a dessert/candy buffet with to-go boxes.

ETA: It was small- we had cookies (chocolate chip and royal icing), cupcakes, brownies, mini pastries, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered oreos, rock candy, pink hershey kisses, and pink goldfish.

Yes- anything edible would be good. We did Hersey kisses in a laced cross themed box for DDs baptism

I did the same exact boxes in pink for my DD's communion. I wish I would've thought to do the cross.
We did Hershey bars with special labels for DD's baptism. For Ds we did Hershey kisses with circle labels in a favor box. I have also done chocolate lollipops. I think edible favors are the best route.

I think favors are very generational. It seems that the generation coming up behind me (I'm 44) does favors for everything. Me not so much. Personally I think they are a waste. And to me, edible favors are the absolute worst, they go straight in the trash, if I even take them.
I don't see any need for it to be done.

Same... I'm 35!

I don't think I've ever gotten a useful favor.

My MIL made pink and white dipped pretzel rods with tags that had a pic of DD. Had she not done them I don't know that I would have done anything because I really do feel like they're a waste unless they're something particularly amazing.

Yes. I did a chocolate bar with with a wrapper designed with his name and baptism info. People seem to like edible favors.

Re: favors for a baptism yay or nay?

Speaking of edible favors, I once had these cake bon bons made for a favor that were so out of this world delicious that I still dream of them at night. I was praying for people to leave them on the tables or forget to take them home so I could have more for myself!
I told the woman I might need her to make me a dozen to devour myself....

For a baptism I would. For my wedding I didn't do a favor. Not sure why. I guess I couldn't be bothered. Lol

Funny bc Im 40 and I feel like my parents generation were huge on favors. I always did them for major events but i.e for my wedding I donated to a charity in lieu of flowers,, so maybe the favor phase skipped our generation land went straight from my parents to the generation after us ol. Anyway for my DD1 baptism I just did a candy bar with to go bags, and for DD2 I had cupcakes to go.

Re: favors for a baptism yay or nay?

Not necessary. I wouldn't even notice most likely if I didn't get one at any event & if I did notice I wouldn't care. I haven't had a party in a long time but usually my MIL will take on the task & get a little something.

Speaking of favors... As a kid I don't remember ever getting a favor at a friend's birthday party. I bring my preschooler to friend's birthday parties & he gets these huge elaborate favors wrapped in cellophane... it's very nice but it always surprises me... I worry the favor is going to be nicer than the gift I got for the kid Chat Icon

I think alot of party places now include the favors in the party price for the parents!

Nah. Not a fan of favors. Most of the time it's crap you don't need and toss.

I mean you could really just go through the trouble of finding, buying and putting together a favor just to leave them on your dining room table Chat Icon

You don't have to have one if you don't want to. Nobody will notice or miss it.

Re: favors for a baptism yay or nay?

We did for both kids. Probably because I read on here that if I didn't everyone would hate me and I'd have no friends.Chat Icon Just kidding!
I actually do think most if not all that I have been to have had something. But I wouldn't care if I didn't get something. Not sure I'd notice.
We had joint first birthday/baptisim parties for both kids. I had personalized chocolate bars for DS1 and personalized M&M's for DS2.

We did favors (glasses with personalized etching and then filled with chocolates), but the favor I liked the most I received from a baptism was actually a really pretty white porcelain cross as an ornament. It was a July christening. But was just so pretty and we hang it on our tree (got it 2 years ago) and always remember that christening.

This is a beautiful display. I was just wondering, if you have a party at a restaurant, is the display out the whole time or do the people set it up after dinner? It's so nice, I would want it there the whole time but then I fear all the kids would eat it before the actual meal.
