how much?
if you've hosted a party recently (at a restaurant), what were the prices you were quoted per person?
i'm in the very initial stages of thinking about SO's surprise 50th birthday party and want guess-timates for a budget.
thanks in advance.

It really varies so it is hard to give a number. You can be anywhere from $25 a head to $75 a head depending on where you go and what you are serving. Is alcohol included, just beer, wine, soda? 3 courses or 4 courses?

Re: how much?
Catering halls are cheaper than restaurants. We ended up at a catering hall for our wedding because restaurau rs wanted 150/head minimum not including a fee of 10-75k for occupying the dining room. Insanity

a restaurant including beer and wine is usually around 40+ pp... Cash bar you can get for like $20-25 I would think. I shopped around for DD's christening, and honestly could not find anything for under $40 with beer and wine.

Varies....for Friday or Saturday night dinner with alcohol you are probably looking at around $50+ , for day time party without alcohol you can sometimes find $30 or just under.

We paid $35 a person, not including liquor for a buffet lunch and appetizers at a restaurant in Patchogue.

Re: how much?
I had my DH surprise party at a restaurant and paid $32pp including beer and wine. It was the most reasonable place I found and the food was delicious.

Re: how much?
I think the lowest I saw was $35 per person with beer and wine only for a daytime weekend event. Not sure if the evenings were more expensive.

For 3 course meal, beer and wine most resaturants are $50-$60pp after tax and gratuity. These were for day time ocassions, baptism, shower, etc. That's the cheapest I found including alcohol for your average place. High end places are obviously more.

Re: how much?
For a restaurant figure anywhere from $30-75/pp. You can do fewer courses or pay per drink vs open bar to cut costs, but there are so many variables.
