IF you have Verizon Fios
Hubby is fed up with Cablevision, our bill went up another $30 a month. He is now looking into Fios. I was looking online and it says something about picking the channels you want. Can someone explain how this works? Can I just get the basics like we get with Cablevision? I am not a fan of change but if it saves us $$ then I'll have to deal with it.
Thanks.!!

DH deals with the FIOS account but it functions just like cable basically. They have packages and can add channels for a cost.

I didn't have cable before so I can't say if it's more expensive, but I don't like the bundles to choose from. It lumps certain types together - sports, kids, home, entertainment, but if you tend to watch a variety of channels you'll end up having to get multiple bundles to get them all. If you tend to stick to similar types (home and sports) then it's a good deal.

Yep I recently called and got our bill lowered since we were paying for a package where we didn't even watch most of the premium channels

It's exaclty the same. The difference is if you change, you will get the introductory price for a few years, then it will go up again. So you just have to keep changing back and forth when you get annoyed.

When we lived in NJ we had Fios for 9 yrs (before that.. Comcast for 1 yr). Hands down it was the best experience. we never had service issues.. a tech never had to come out to our house. We also never had any billing issues whatsoever. Now that I have relocated and we are back to comcast.. I wish that Fios would service my area but that will never happen

I miss FIOS and would pay whatever they wanted to have them back ! IT WAS WORTH EVERY DIME - I have this crappy xfinity - Im in CT. They have packages and as pp said you will prob get an intro rate for 2 years or something like that - good luck.
