Nassau County right on red camera ticket
I got a ticket at an intersection for not fully stopping at a right on red. What I am surprised about is that the ticket is $50, but I owe at total of $150, as there is a driver responsibility fee of $45 and public safety fee of $55 on top of the $50 fine. I live in Suffolk and while have have gotten one or two of these in Suffolk, there was not these huge fees on top of the fine, one of which is more than the fine and the other almost the same as the fine. Is there a way of just paying the fine of $50? I think this is beyond ridiculous and unfair.

I got one in Suffolk and it was sthe same thing. The ticket itself was on,y about $50 but it was like $75 worth of fees. You have to pay the whole thing.

Haven't gotten one in years in Suffolk, so I guess this is the way they all are now. I am always careful now, but I see it was the day leaving a dr appointment and I was so flustered. No excuse though. Gee...I don't mind paying the fine or even a fee but when the fee is that much more than the fine, it's not right, IMO.

It's the same in Suffolk and you have to pay it.
You can't even fight it.
I thought I heard they were doing away with them though but apparently not.
It's just another huge asss money maker for the counties- because we don't pay enough in taxes right?

Yes, I thought I heard they were doing away with it too. I remember it on the news, but have no idea what happened. I guess this was what all the fuss was about when it was in the news.

Yeah the fee is bs. The ticket itself was tolerable but the fees. Ugh. Such a money maker.
No way you could fight it. They even have video of you doing it. You don't get points though bc they can't prove who was driving. But you most definitely have to pay it.

They did away with the school zone ones.
