Has anyone fought a red light camera ticket?
I just got one and I was making a right on red that did not have a "no turn on red" sign. I did not make a complete stop though. I stopped very briefly. I was shocked that they are even sending tickets for that. I thought it was just if you went through a light or right on red that has a sign stating you cant make the right on red.

I've heard that they are very difficult to fight and they definitely send them for not making a complete stop before turning. You have to stop on red even if you are turning unless there is a green right turn arrow.
ETA: DH got one and didn't even bother looking into fighting it because he clearly did not make a full and complete stop.
ETA again: IMO they are not worth fighting because there is video proof. It's not like you can argue that you did stop.

no, you have to wait 3 seconds before going. I would not fight it if you are admitting you didn't make a complete stop.

Agreed, technically a stop is 3 full seconds.

Dh got a ticket for making a brief stop as well. We did not fight it for this reason

Thanks.
I guess I didn't realize they sent them out for now stopping long enough. Yes, it isn't worth fighting a $50 ticket. I appreciate the responses.

My friends DH is a Suffolk Cty cop. He said there is no "official" 3 second rule. They aren't timing your stop but they do want to see you make a FULL and COMPLETE stop. Any "rolling through" is not okay. He also said it is next to impossible to fight them, it's not even worth trying.

Re: Has anyone fought a red light camera ticket?
There doesn't need to be a sign. If you are allowed to make a right on red you must make a full stop before doing so. That is why you got the ticket. If the sign says no right on red, then you can't make a right on red at all. With no sign- it's right on red after full stop Which for the cameras is a full 3 seconds. It won't pay to fight it- it's no points and considered a parker not a mover.

Re: Has anyone fought a red light camera ticket?
You can't fight it if you didn't come to a full stop at the red light. The camera has nothing to do with no turn on red but it is to catch what you said you did-glide through a red light. The law is that you must come to a complete stop before turning at the light. Sorry. People will say count which helps some people come to a complete stop and not roll thru.
