Teeth Grinding

Does anyone's child grind their teeth at night?
6 year old DD has been grinding her teeth something awful and it's freaking me out.
I go in to check on her/cover her before I go to bed every night and almost every single time she is grinding and it sounds horrible.
When I share a bed with her on vacation I hear it all night too.
Not sure there is much we can do about it at this age, but it concerns me because it sounds awful and i worry she will chip her teeth. I actually have a ton of tiny chips on my back teeth from clenching at night and i wear a night guard to prevent more damage (when i remember).
I will ask the dentist at her next appointment but i was wondering if anyone else experienced this with their kids.

My son has done it a few times and it is definitely freaky. He only did it very randomly but if it persists she will probably need a mouth guard. She could develop TMJ too. Def speak to the dentist.

Re: Teeth Grinding

Yes my 6 year olf grinds her teeth as well. I brought up at her last dental checkup. They told me its most likely related to stress. I really don't know what type of stress this kid has. They told me they usually out grow it and I shouldn't worry about it.

Teeth Grinding

Hailey does. She doesn't do it all night only when she starts waking up to change positions.

Jillian's top teeth just came in and now she's starting to do it too

Re: Teeth Grinding

My dentist says they will evaluate for a mouth guard when they get permanent teeth.
Both my DS and DD grind and so does DH.
