bank fee for stopping a check
I have never done this and from what I read on bank website, it is $30 to stop a check. Does the bank ever waive the fee?

I've never tried but once my checking was overdrawn many years ago and they waived the fee because I had a bunch of deposits being made that day.

Depends on the bank and how long you've been a customer for the waiver. There's always a charge to stop a check.

There's always a fee to stop a check, but it's worth getting it stopped than the check being wrongly-deposited - unless the check is for less than the fee.
I've seen fees lower than $30. Every bank is different.

bank fee for stopping a check
I had mine waived once. I had to stop a check that I had issued to a guy who was supposed to fix my garage door. He was instead a thief. He stole from me and 8 others as well as his employers. I filed a police report. My last hope was to try to stop the check. He had unfortunately already cleared it. At the time, though, it had not cleared so it was worth the try. Of course I was charged the fee and was more than willing to pay for it. I explained what was going on to the woman on the phone at the local branch of my bank. She got authorization to waive the fee even before we realized it was too late and the man had cleared my check.
The garage door company (also a victim as they lost a truck and reputation of this mess) honored the amount of my check even tho they didn't get the money. They charged me the difference since he lied on the amount and fixed my garage door (twice no less).
But that's the only time I've had my stop check fee waived.
Bank: Citibank
