Phot card spin off. (Because there has to be one)
How do you feel about grandparents sending out holiday cards with their grandkids on it?
We got a card from my husbands aunt and uncle. And it has their grandkids on it. Not them with the kids, just the kids. I have no idea if she did this on her own or discussed it with her kids. I know I would not like for my parents or in laws to do that.
Thoughts??

Speaking as someone whose DDs have NO grandparents (my parents both passed) I think it's sweet they are proud of their grandkids and want to show them off

My in-laws do this, but they put pictures of themselves, our DD, me & Dh and DH's brother and his wife. And I didn't even know about it until 2 years when I saw the card at my mom's house! They don't send it to us... they give the traditional hallmark "for my son and DIL card". I wasn't happy about my picture (which I don't even get to pick) being sent out to who knows how many people. I haven't said anything to them though because I don't know how. I think it's a bit strange.
ETA: the couple cards that I have seen were pictures all taken off my Facebook and my SIL's Facebook. MIL never asked us for pics or told us she was doing this.

I don't think I'd mind, I think it's sweet. They're proud of their grandkids & want to show them off, I can understand that. But I'd prefer if they checked with us & showed it to us first. I wouldn't want it to be a surprise to us when we got it in the mail.

I think it's sweet.
My friend's parents send a photo card of their grandchildren every year, and every year for the past 4 years a new baby has been added to the group. They are proud grandparents.

Life is way too short to be annoyed over a holiday card. I'd be thrilled to have inlaws who were in my kids lives and proud of them. I think its very sweet.

Both my parents and in-laws are doing it this year. I guess I don't mind since I helped them take the picture and learn how to use Shutterfly lol.

This.
If my MIL or mom did this without asking, I would think it's really weird and would be pissed. But if they asked and we talked about it first, I would probably say fine.

I like it. I have an excoworker who does this. I'm not friends with her daughter only her, to this is how I get pictures of the kids :)

This is going to sound weird but I would not be a fan of them sending a photo card with my kids on it but if they want to include a photo or 2 inside a card, I am ok with that. We have distant relatives in europe & my parents send pics of the kids to older relatives.

This exactly. Life is way too short and unpredictable and grandparents are super precious.
But at the same time I kind of feel like you need permission to send pictures of someone else's children. I get where you're coming from, but I think it's something to spend time being annoyed about.

As a grandmother who sends cards with pictures of my grandkids, I don't think it's a problem. My kids know I do it and don't have any problems with it. Sometimes we are in the pictures with them, sometimes not.

I can't see why anyone would want to have this discussed with them before it was done or not like it, but I have a good relationship with my in laws, so I guess that is why it would not bother me in the least.

This is what I mean. I don't have the best relationship with my mil. This is something she would do without telling anyone's. So it would bother me. I would get over it but it would still bother me.

I think it's adorable. Hoping my kids will let me do it. We did family pics this year with mil so she is on our card this year. We added her name too since she doesn't send out cards.
