Let's talk Thanksgiving desserts!
What's your absolute favorite and always served at your table? Looking for something new to try.
We usually have bourbon pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and apple pie. And of course the usual Italian spread of cannoli, Italian butter cookies, rainbow cookies, and mixed pastries. We also have homemade candy, nut clusters and struffoli even though it's more for Christmas but my mom loves it. Someone usually makes chocolate dipped strawberries and oreos, and cupcakes for the kids, too. It's too much.
ILs serve pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie and cranberry pie. And MIL bakes a ton of different cookies between Thanksgiving and Christmas because her kids will legit flip out if she doesn't (yes, even the one I'm married to!). Each one has their favorite and they'll throw a tantrum if it's missing from the holiday spread. It's a dessert smorgasboard at ILs house too!
Forgot the fruit platter, nuts, salted pumpkin seeds, dried ceci beans, roasted chestnuts, and fennel.

Re: Let's talk Thanksgiving desserts!
I make pumpkin pie with spiced whipped cream. I'm thinking of doing a WW recipe of spiced cake mix plus pumpkin and topping with cream cheese frosting for a lower fat alternative.
DD is demanding chocolate pie.
My parents always have apple/berry pie which I can't stand.
I'm a chocolate person but will eat the pumpkin filling and avoid the crust.

Let's talk Thanksgiving desserts!
Our Thanksgiving desserts consist of all Italian pastries, cakes and cookies.
We have cannolis, tiramisu, rainbow cookies, butter cookies, etc.
Thinking of maybe doing a rainbow cookie cake to bring.

We are big dessert eaters:
We always have pies, at least three of these: -apple pie -chocolate pudding pie -sweet potato pie -pumpkin pie -cranberry meringue pie -pecan pie
We always have a cookie tray, at least three of these: -turkey themed cookies -rainbow cookies -cranberry & white chocolate chip cookies -almond cookies -pumpkin chocolate chip cookies
There is also usually a fresh fruit platter and every once in awhile a chocolate/candy platter.

Re: Let's talk Thanksgiving desserts!
I was in the store today and saw the most beautiful pecan pie! It's one of my favorites so I'm going to have to go back to pick one up before Thanksgiving.
We always have a million desserts and everyone is always so full from the meal that I end up with almost all of it left over. I'm buying take home containers this year and forcing people to take it. Otherwise I will be 50 lbs heavier by December.
ETA: I had an Aunt that would always make "magic cookie bars" and they were amazing. I've also heard they are called 7-layer cookies. But if you've never tried them, they are a huge hit! I haven't had them in years. Maybe I'll try my hand at making them this year.

Re: Let's talk Thanksgiving desserts!
I'm a guest this year at DH's cousins. I am bringing a tray of brownies, blondies and lemon bars, maybe another type of bar. Maybe a chocolate chip bundt or pound cake. Easier for the buffet. Cousin is making apple pie, pumpkin pie and cheesecake. DH wants me to make cream puffs too, but I think that's too much because they have to be transported and then kept cool.
If I were going to my sis's, there would be flan and I would make a black forest cherry cake.

If you are looking for another bar to make, someone I work with made Ina Garten's Raspberry Crumble Bars recently and they were amazing. I can't wait for a reason to make them!

Re: Let's talk Thanksgiving desserts!
I will probably make upside down apple pie cheesecake. I made it a couple of months ago and it was so good.
