France, anyone?
Dh and I bought a 3 night stay at the Bristol in Paris at an auction. We will probably go in March or April. We would like to travel somewhere outside of Paris as well for 3-4 nights. Looking for low key, relaxing. Loire valley maybe? Do we rent a car or just take train? Another city/country is also a possibility. Anyone been and have recommendations?

Its kind of far from Paris but I loved the French Riviera. I stayed in Nice which I wouldn't call low key but Eze is really nice.

We went to Paris for 4 nights/5 days and gen we took the train to Monaco. Spent two nights there in Monte Carlo at Hotel de Paris. Then we rented a car and drove through the countryside and stopped in Eze and St. Paul de Vance. Love love love! Then we spent a few nights in Cannes and flew home from Nice. Amazing trip. Love the small medieval country villages.

Brussels in Belgium is about an hour and a half train ride away...really beautiful city with one of the nicest squares I've ever seen. And of course there are lots of chocolate shops & waffle trucks!!

France, anyone?
Excellent ideas-thank you!! We are really just looking to eat, drink wine, maybe rent bikes and explore some beautiful scenery. We are not that picky. It sounds like we can't go wrong with any of the areas mentioned. Dh has never been to France and I've only been to Paris and the alps, so I thought it would be fun to get out of the city. We've had a crummy few months with some health issues for dh and he has surgery coming up next month. By spring he should be in the clear, so I am busying myself planning some fun vacations!

If you want to do all that, I'd highly suggest Beaune. There is an excellent bike route that goes Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. That's about 16 km, but it's hilly. You also get to do reds and whites this way.
If you decide to do this, let me know if you need restaurant and winery suggestions. I can remember a few that were so awesome! The winerys can be a bit tricky because you have to knock on doors and hope they answer. They don't speak too much English out there either. But it is so much fun!

I second beaune! We went a few months ago. We stayed in Paris for a few days, then rented a car and drove to beaune. Exactly a three hour drive. From there, we did burgundy region vineyards of course, but also did day trips by train to Lyon and Dijon. Great trip and we wished we had more time to spend in Lyon which we fell in love with.

Re: France, anyone?
We've been to the Bordeaux region and Normandy region. I loved both, but Normandy really spoke to me. I can't wait to go back there.
