So shes not really gaining a lot of weight... Dr doesnt think she looks small... everything else seems to be ok at her check ups... so we have to go in on friday again for a weight check...

ALSO, her soft spot is really really small... as of right now her head is growing, but if her scull fuses too early she will need surgery to fix it... just wondering if anyone else has had this issue with their LOs before?

3 Months ... and a question

If the doctors not concerned about weight gain and she's meeting her milestones, I wouldn't be concerned. My niece was a big baby (11 pounds), but gained very little weight her first year (7-8 pounds maybe), but met her milestones so the dr wasn't too concerned.

I don't have any info on the soft spot.

3 Months ... and a question

Is she following her own curve??? My DS was
Tiny and dr said as long as he was following his curve it was fine.

Also my ped was concerned about early fusing if the plates. I saw a neuro and it was fine but I researched Drs just in case. I will look for who I found....I'm traveling but will be back home later in the week and will look.

Re: 3 Months ... and a question

DD had both issues!

DD was not a good eater and gained barely 2 pounds (think it was like 1lb 14oz) in 4 months. We were also doing weight checks, but as long as she was gaining, they were happy. Once she started solids she became a much better eater. At 11mo she's now a better eater than my 3yo. She just likes food better than bottles.

DD also had/has a very small soft spot. When she was little, it was very hard to find it. Our ped said, "It's small, but it's there." Never seemed overly worried and they said having a small soft spot in and of itself isn't really anything to be concerned about. They watched it when she was young, but her head has consistently grown. For your daughter, as long as she stays in the same percentile and her head keeps growing, it should be fine. They told me it's VERY rare that there's actually a problem. Our peds don't seem concerned about it anymore and haven't mentioned it in a few months now.

Hope that's helpful!

Thanks ladies!!! I'll update on Friday after talking to the dr. They never mentioned if she's on the same growth curve or not. I'll have to check the chart.

They are adorable!

No first hand experience but a friend's niece had to have surgery bc of the skull fusing too early. Scary but she did fine.

My oldest was a slow gainer and at 3-4 months they were still mentioning possible supplementing but we never did. She always stayed around the 20th percentile. My youngest is even tinier but her weight is very proportional to her height so they've never been concerned.

Went to the dr today, she went from 10.13 to 11.7, grew a half inch to 23" and her head went from 39.4 to 39.8.... I can't believe she gained the same thing in one week that she gained the entire month prior...

Dr is keeping an eye on her head making sure it keeps growing... So far she's on the same curve.
