16 Months-Milk/Food Questions (or concerns)

Ok, so as of Friday, DS is offically off bottles, 100% on sippy cups (yippy).

My one concern though is he isn't getting as much milk. Maybe about 16oz a day if we're lucky. Is that ok you think? He only has two sippys of milk, then about two of water and maybe juice.

And for food, he over the last couple of weeks has gotten very picky. I know it could be him just being a toddler, but should I be concerned? He is horrible with fruits & veggies. I'm not looking for advice, just want to know if its normal or a phase. Trust me, he is healthy and thriving and def. not underweight or anything.

Thanks!

16oz a day is fine. Milk is just a drink, yes an important one, but it isn't like formula where they need a real "set" amount.

And yes, the picky thing is normal, stillllll going through it at threeChat Icon

16 oz of milk is fine. Don't forget, it's not going to be his source of nutrition like formula was. The milk is just going to be a drink for him.
My 16 month old has her good food days and her not so good days. It's definitely tough sometimes.

Totally fine.

My DD decided one day (at 14 months) that she was done with bottles. As it is, she doesn't drink milk AT ALL. With the sippy cups, they do tend to not drink as much and my ped said that was perfectly fine and normal.

16 oz of milk is totally fine! If you think he isn't getting enough, just try to supplement with more dairy in his diet... i.e. snacks of cheese or yogurt, etc...

My 16 month old is going through the same picky phase. I still haven't gotren him off the bottles though He still has 2 bottles a day (first thing am and last thing pm) But I'm not in a super hury to take those away since he drinks from anything elese all day long. He does give me a hard time with fruits and veggies and is very much inclined to eat only grilled chesse and pizza...lol
Even some foods he normally gives me no grief about he sometimes does....He is beginning to be a picky little thing. I think it has a lot to do with age and teething.

Re: 16 Months-Milk/Food Questions (or concerns)

as the others said, 16 oz is fine.

my 16 month old good eater has totally turned on me!
she would eat anything you put in front of her and had a huge appetite.
now, she refuses food.
she will eat but she is just being so picky. and she will only eat a few bites.

we feed her more often now.
like if she had a poor breakfast, we will give her a snack of fruit an hour later.
thankfully she LOVES fruit and veggies..

just try to feed him more often and make sure it is as nutritious as possible.
i give string cheese snacks, apples, strawberries, avocado, banana...
lunches are homemade chicken nuggets- but lately she has been rejecting those... pasta ( like spinach ravioli), sauteed chicken breasts.. etc
i just keep cooking and trying and hoping that if she is hungry enough, she will eat..
that is my mantra..

My Dr told me 16-24 oz a day until 2. Also if you are feeding him cheese or anything else iwth calcium, vit d etc than he will be fine. Pickiness is totally normal. They are establishing independence and food is a great way to do it

It all sounds normal to me.
Jonah is an extremely picky eater. He rarely eats dinner unless it is pizza or beans.
Mady is better, she likes almost anything.
