Just started taking Fenugreek (DD is 10 months old and I EP)-- questions
DD is 10 months and I exclusively pump. My supply is dipping, I'm just barely scraping by and have maybe 15 ounces in the freezer. I literally stress about it daily, since we've made it so far and I don't want to have to introduce formula at this stage and then whole milk in 2 months (just feel like that's a lot on her little digestive system).
So I just started taking Fenugreek the other day (Friday or Saturday, can't remember), 1 caplet 3 times a day. No noticable difference yet....does everyone see an increase in milk when taking it? If so, how soon after taking it? How much did it increase your supply? How often did you take it each day?

I never saw an increase. I started with 1 pill, 3x a day and then upped it to 3 pills 3x a day and nothing.
It also made DD terribly irritable. She has a stomach like a rock and nothing ever bothered her.. but the fenugreen was killer 
I stopped after a couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I was in the same boat and at 10 months was forced to supplement with formula. But it does work for a lot of women! I remember people telling me that if I didn't smell like maply syrup, I wasn't taking enough! So are you stinky? LOL....if not, increase the amount you are taking!

PPs are right - you need more than 1 pill a day and it may not work. You can also try More Milk Plus, which is another supplement that has fenugreek plus other herbs in it. Unfortunately it never worked for me but it worked really really well for some friends. Also, eating oatmeal daily is supposed to help.

I took fenugreek when ds was 5 weeks old and it seemed to increase my supply after just a couple of days if I remember correctly. I only took it for a week or so and once I stopped, my supply stayed the same and didn't drop again.
I also EP'd and found that the last few months, I had to pump for longer ot get the same amount. For months, I would pump for 10 minute sessions and get enough milk, but for the last few months I had to pump for 20 minutes to get the same amount. Annoying, but it worked for me. DS's ped ok'd me starting him on whole milk at 10 months. He said that it was silly to give him formula at 10 months. At 10.5 months I started giving him a little whole milk in each bottle and by one year he was 100% on whole milk with no issues. Is this a possibility for you?

I took 3 3x a day... any less than that and I didn't notice a difference. DD and I smelled a little like maple syrup, but that was my only side effect.

Try More Milk Plus! And increase your pumping sessions and times for at least 3 days...you should see a difference.

I did 3 pills 3x a day and it never helped me significantly. Maybe a 1/2 oz more per session - but you know that barely adds up at this stage.
I would try the More Milk that Melissa swears by

When DS turned 6 mos and I was stressed out at work I noticed a dip in my supply. I did Fenugreek 3x's a day, Mother's Milk Tea and Oatmeal for breakfast. Also upped my water intake.
I noticed improvement in about 3-4 days.

Do you think the dip in your supply could be AF-related? Fenugreek didn't work for me, but I started taking a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement as per kellymom, and my supply came back immediately!

It helped me a bit but I think a ton of water a lot of oatmeal helped me more.

same here...def take more!!!!!
drink a ton of more water - that always helped me
and maybe try to pump an extra session or massage do breast compressions to get every last drop out and def wait until the 2nd letdown (mine came at the 21-22 min mark..)
good luck...I felt the same way as you with going from breastmilk to cow's milk...
I did it successfully for a yr with my DD - but my DS I got permission to start cows milk at 11-11.5 month old..bec my supply was just not there as much toward the very end...

Like PP said, try upping it to 3 pills 3x a day, take Mothers Milk, a calcium supplement, and eat lots of oatmeal! All these things helped me TREMENDOUSLY.

I have tried anything you could think of. Fenugreek (9 pills a day) More milk plus, More milk plus special blend, Mothers milk, Oatmeal, Dark beer, Thistle, Fenugreek in the liquid form and lots of water and nothing worked for me :( Sorry I cant be more help.

Don't forget to drink your water!! Dehydration can cause your supply to drop also.
