Nervous to have 2 kids!
DD#2 is due in under 3 months and I am getting really nervous to have two kids to take care of. I know it sounds insane lol but I have never watched 2 kids at the same time before let alone taken care of them 24/7 lol We just found out that 2 weeks after I have the baby my DH hasta work on a Saturday and Sunday. My first thought--omg two kids alone?! I am freaking out lol

Nervous to have 2 kids!
I feel exactly the same way! I had a really rough time adjusting to DD1. I'm 32w3d and I'm starting to freak out. DH works long hours. Doesn't get home until 8pm usually. Sometimes 10. I don't know how I will handle it and I can't tell you how many times people have laughed in my face and told me how much life is going to suck with 2 23 months apart.

I agree with this. It will be a little crazy in the beginning, but then you'll settle in. I found the real difficulties, if you can call it that, started when #2 became mobile.

This! DS (#2) was fussy, but going from 1 to 2 was still so much easier than 0 to 1. I think the hardest part was just the mommy guilt I felt for #1 since she didn't get all of my time anymore. Looking back, I realize that was silly, as DS was pretty much the best thing to ever happen to DD (they are besties), but in the moment it was hard.

Inbound it harder going from 1 to 2 than none to 1. It's an adjustment at first but it all falls into place eventually

It's rough but you'll be fine. It goes by so much faster, because now you have the older one to take care of too. I swear I blinked, and my DS is turning 6 mos this coming week.

Nervous to have 2 kids!
I think if it was easy to go from 0 to 1, going from 1 to 2 isn't as easy. But if going from 0 to 1 was a big adjustment, then 1 to 2 isn't so bad.
The first month or so was difficult for me, mostly because I was recovering from a c section and couldn't do much of anything for DD1. But DD1 has been mostly amazing with her baby sister. The love she has for her is just heart warming. And now that the baby is a bit older (5 months) she cracks up at just the sight of her sister. It's amazing to watch and makes it all worth it.
You'll be fine!

Re: Nervous to have 2 kids!
It's not that bad. You'll get used to it real quick & it'll be your new normal. Having a second one is definitely NOT double the work of having one.

Re: Nervous to have 2 kids!
I was nervous too! But 1-2 was easier than 0-1 for us. It's a lot of craziness (bit in a fun way, not a bad way), and when dh isn't home, you will probably initially just be watching the kids and cleaning up immediate messes (as opposed to tackling bigger chores like laundry), but you will definitely get into a groove. You're lucky you are due in spring and can get outside! I have the 2 kids alone from 8am-9pm twice a week so it's daytime and nighttime for a LONG stretch and we are all cooped up. But we found our routine.

Re: Nervous to have 2 kids!
How old is your oldest?
Mine are about 28 months apart. When I first had DD I was super nervous to be alone with the 2 kids, but it's actually not so bad. Especially b/c you can put a newborn down and not worry about the baby rolling/crawling/walking away. You learn to prioritize whose needs have to be met first.
I will say, now that DS is 3 years old, he's much more patient and understanding than he was even 6 months ago, so it's even easier to be alone with the 2 of them.
Have your older one help with the baby - getting bottles, pacis, etc. It helps the older one feel involved when you have to tend to the baby. Oh, and an iPad was my best friend to keep my older one occupied.

Re: Nervous to have 2 kids!
I felt exactly the same way as you. I just had DD2 in November. My older one will be 3 in May. The first month was crazy and I felt pretty useless on no sleep and all the people coming to visit/help. My older DD had a lot of adjustments going on and acted out quite a bit. It was overwhelming to say the least. I really questioned our decision to have two that first month. Once the baby started sleeping better and I was feeling better, we got into a nice routine. My older DD finally settled in and got some normalcy back. The second month was WAY better! She will be 3 months next week and it gets better each day. I am more confident and comfortable with two and adjusting schedules as needed. My DH works long hours so I've been home by myself with them everyday from 7am to 6pm everyday. Like someone else said, you figure out whose needs are most important at the moment and it really helps that you can put the baby down and they won't go anywhere. Also enlist your older DC to help out where she can and get them involved. It will work out I promise!
