Dr prescribed vitamin with fluoride for 7 month old
I got it but I'm wary. Thoughts?

Dr prescribed vitamin with fluoride for 7 month old
I never gave it. No reason to IMO. Not a fan of fluoride. My DD is almost 9 and has never had a cavity.

Ive never given flouride my dr does not recommend it. But every dr is different. My dd is 3.5 and has never had issues with her teeth.
Every person will respond differently on here, but you should do what you feel most comfortable with.

I don't give flouride. My understanding is that it's meant to be topical (i.e. toothpaste) not ingested.

Same with us. I use ChildLife Essentials Multivitamin and Minerals. It was recommended by many moms that I know and it has greats reviews.

It is my understanding that fluoride is in drinking water but in long island that is not the case. The vitamin supplements it.

Our ped wrote DS a prescription for it. I questioned her about it and she explained it's important for teeth as they develop in the jaw. I don't trust it, but didn't want to argue with a Dr that went to medical school. She kinda looked at me like I was crazy for not wanting to give it to him. I read a decent amount about it and I decided to alternate between that and an over the counter one with no fluoride. He only get's the fluoride once a week.

This. Flouride is a naturally occurring mineral in rocks, trees, air etc that helps prevent tooth decay. It's present in most drinking water (Like in queens where I live) but is not present in Nassau county which is why pediatricians prescribe it.

There is a big difference between naturally occurring fluoride and the artificial fluoride that is put into drinking water and vitamin supplements (as well as toothpaste, makeup etc). The artificial fluoride is a chemical by-product and has toxic effects. I chose not to give it.
I would do your research and then choose if you want to give it to your child or not. There are plenty of over the counter vitamin alternatives that do not contain fluoride.

It's a neurotoxin so no way. 7mos seems super early too, usually the doctors push it after 1. Google it and see how you feel about giving to him.

There is quite a bit of controversy on whether it actually prevents Tooth decay. Google to learn its history.
FYI my parents refused fluoride treatments for our teeth and we always had flouride free tooth paste growing up. I've never had a cavity before.
