Almond milk for 18 mos old
This may sound dumb, but I know you can't give nuts to kids under 2, but can I give my 18 month old almond milk? She refuses to drink milk out of a cup and I'm trying to transition away from the bottle (which is the only way I can get her to drink milk....don't ask, I totally don't understand that!! Lol)

We gave all nut products before age 1 as per our pediatrician. My dd has drank almond milk/cashew milk/coconut milk interchangeably since she transitioned from breastmilk.

You can try coconut milk. That to me in more similar to real milk even down to the color.

I've given my DS nut products since 9-10 months.
If you're looking for an alternative to cow's milk, I'd try coconut milk as I think it is a closer match as a pp said.

DD has had nut products since 8 months old. I like cashew milk the best out of the non-dairy milks. I like Silk brand because it doesn't have carrageenan. If you do go with almond please get organic because almonds are heavily sprayed with pesticides.

My oldest has never liked cows milk, we started almond milk & coconut milk with him around 18 months and he did fine. My ped. wanted us to introduce nut products around 12 months.

You can give nuts to kids under 2. So yes you can also give almond milk.

We also started giving nuts before 1. My 21 month old has had almond and cashew milk but she primarily drinks whole milk.

That rule is no longer. As soon as your baby starts eating solids nuts are okay.

When my ds was a year old we started him on almond milk because he had a slight milk allergy, it was fine

I also avoid carrageenan like the plague but it is still in organic products. Whole foods 365 brand is safe. I think stop n stops natures promise brand is safe. And trader joes brand that is in the fridge ONLY is safe. Also so delicious brand has recently converted.

I seriously had NO idea that the no nuts before 2 rule was no longer followed! My pediatrician never said anything....thatnks!

My daughter has severe allergies to milk, peanuts, tree nuts & other foods so when I stopped nursing at 14 months, we started her on coconut and hemp milk. She still has both now at almost 19 months & loves them both--we do unsweetened for both. If she didn't have the nut allergies, I would also give her almond or cashew.

You can give everything except honey. I gave baby boy a little bit of peanut butter several times before he turned 1. Almond milk is fine! My pediatrician said the rules/recommendations have changed and everything goes except honey.
