Destination wedding gift
I am a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding. I have never been to a destination wedding. The trip is going to cost like 3000 for 2 ppl. What kind of gift do you give?

Destination wedding gift
We give the same as if it wasn't a destination wedding
Actually , to clarify, we have travelled to attend weddings that were OOS, not destination weddings (but the travel still cost us as if it was a destination wedding - airfare, hotel etc) and we have always given the same as if the wedding was local to us

I agree with Chil. DH and I were just in 2 weddings. Both we had to stay at hotels for 2 nights. One was "fancy" in NYC. The other was not so fancy.
We spent more on the fancy wedding (tux was $300 rental, hotel in nyc was $400 a night). We gave $500 to both couples.
Its hard because you are spending SO much to travel, be there etc. I know that can absolutely equate into how much you CAN give give.
DH and I talked about it. Would we do $350? At that point "saving" $150 each wedding just seemed silly after spending so much. Plus these are both close close friends of ours. So we gave the same amount regardless of amount we spent or how "fancy" the wedding was.
Give what you can afford. If spending $3k is a lot and you can only afford to give X, then give what you can afford.

I always give the same as I'd give if it were a local wedding but I also would expect that some people might give less than normal and the couple may be prepared for that. If that same couple came to my wedding, I would give the same amount back.

Destination wedding gift
Check out kjframes on etsy. That has become my go to gits for destination weddings. I don't give cash gifts for destination weddings as they are really expensive and a cash gift is out of.my budget.
I have been to 4 in the past 6 years. Most people did not give monetary gifts and if they did it was a token amount.

I'm in the minority, but I would not give the same for a destination wedding. If I am spending thousands to attend, taking time off work, then I am not giving the same aamount of money. I've never been to a destination wedding, but if I was I might lean towards getting a gift as opposed to cash. Really you can only expect so much out of people. A wedding is just one day. You should do whatever you feel comfortable with and what your finances can handle. Nobody should be going broke for someone else's wedding. JMHO.

Re: Destination wedding gift
My sister in law is getting married in Aruba next year. Me and Dh are in the bridal party. We could not afford to go, so my inlaws are paying for us to be there. Not sure what gift we will give yet. 1st time going to a destination wedding. I don't think they care about the money, they just want us to be there to celebrate with them.

Re: Destination wedding gift
my standard amount for wedding gifts is $75-$100 per person no matter the location. so for a destination I cant see myself giving less than that
