I need help... Is your toddler behaving this way
So is it normal for these toddlers 2.5+... Will be 3 in a few months to behave so CRAZY! He talks back, says no, in any activity doesnt follow instructions - is distracted at the drop of a dime!!!
Yet in his prek ckass i have talked to his teachers and uts complete opposite!!!!
Its getting to me- im embarrassed to anything with him...
I think he has add or adhd - dh says im crazy...
Any one have any insight ??

If it was ADHD your LO would likely be acting the same across both settings- school and home. maybe have another conversation with the teacher about how they handle situations you are struggling with since he seems to be well behaved there.
It's hard to say for sure based on the limited info you provided, but he might be fighting you for more control and independence. Try offering him more opportunities to make choices.
I am a behavior analyst and have been working with adults and children with emotional disabilities for 10 years. I have a very stubborn and independent 2 year old. The most important things are consistency and the approach you use.

At that age, I asked my ped if my dd had add. He laughed and said no, it's totally normal.
She's 5 now and still has her moments, but is a healthy, happy active kid. Hang in there, it gets better.

Im going through this with my dd. With my mom or mom in law and in school shes an angel. With me and my dh she has these moments where i feel an alien takes over and my sweet girl is gone.
I wish i had advice but ive had some less than stellar mom days when shes had some real outbursts. CAnt wait for it to pass.

That's my daughter. Unfortunately it's normal toddler behavior. I was so concerned about her behavior I spoke with the ped. She asked if it was just at home with the people she's with all the time? Or if it carried over into school and her activities (dance, gymnastics etc.) and it wasn't. She said she's just being a normal kid trying to test our patience. If it was across the board and it was affecting her in all aspects of life, then she would Be worried

My son just turned 3. He is VERY difficult and I can't enjoy myself with him in public. His teacher told me he is a pleasure and this is his 2nd year in school. Ped told me it's normal! It's so hard!! Hang in there!

 one of my DD's (will be 3 very soon) is exactly like this. In school, she's an angel. Almost silent. Bright, pays attention, follows directions. She's just as good at grandma's, out to dinner, etc.
At home, it's a nightmare. Enjoys negative attention as much as positive reinforcement (when she's good, she gets lots of it)  She hits, kicks, bites... DH and I are fried.

Very good advice
My ds will be 3 in March and is much like you described. He is a dream in school though.
He has always been more my more active and fearless kid.
He wants to do things on his own but then won't foliow through.
I give him choices. Sometimes he'll just to back and forth though from choice to choice to "play" me even more
I make sure I set time limitations and stick to them (ie counting to five)
Also during a meltdown that is for no reason distraction is still working.
The one thing I can't figure out is how to keep him in the cart at the store. Nothing works! He either climbs our or screams like bloody murder.

I think this is pretty normal at this age. They test their limits and boundaries with the person they're most comfortable with . . . You! Mine is the same, perfect angel at school and often very disagreeable and defiant with me. I think they're just exerting their independence and some are more strong willed than others.

oh gosh ladies - thank you so much! You know I almost feel like this is a topic similar to PPD. I never here or see anyone talk about their struggles often enough... ? So I guess there is a part of me that knows that I am clearly just over reacting... but there was a part that just didn't know if I should talk to my ped...
IVF Miracle - funny you suggested I speak to the teacher again I was thinking of doing the same and will do so this week. I appreciate and am happy to hear from you all!
