Re: Mattress shopping
When i was shoppng for a cheap Queen sized mattress (less than $1000), i only hit 4 places: IKEA, furniture "row" along Route 110 in Farmingdale, and the row of furniture stores dotted on Jamaica Ave that spanned from Jamaica to Woodhaven, Queens and Rockaway Blvd. Sleepys is a complete rip-off. Eventually bought mine from a local store off Liberty Ave and spent around $600. Its been holding up well for the past 10 years now.
Here is one with prices listed:

Re: Mattress shopping
Bought mine at Macy's. Macy's brand. Get a firm mattress. I got a pillow top and it's terrible.

We bought one based on the reviews and reccomendations and love it.
We bought DD the cheapest version of the Bobopedic and I actually think hers is more comfortable than ours which is a more expensive version with gel. Go figure

We bought our King size and DS's full size at Macy's. Both were great prices.

Re: Mattress shopping
Try PC Richards. They've started carrying mattresses and have really reasonable prices to compete against Sleepy's.

Re: Mattress shopping
We just bought a new mattress and got it on casper.com. They don't have any actual stores so you can't try the mattress out, but they give you a few months to try it out, and if you don't like it, you'll get a full refund and they'll arrange for pickup. Totally worth not having to go shopping and be bothered by salespeople...lol.
The price for a queen was $850 and then I had a coupon code for $50 off, and shipping was free. It arrived in a few days in a box small enough to carry up the stairs and the mattress opens up when you take it out and unwrap the plastic. Pretty cool.
It's been a few weeks and so far I love it. I'd definitely get another one for DS when the time comes for a regular bed for him.
Maybe get a twin Casper just to try it out.
