This might be a stupid question, but is the pillow top on both sides (my old bed had it both sides, my new one it's only the top) so maybe flip it over?

Other then that, I dunno how you would firm up a pillow top

What kind of warranty do you have? It may be possible to switch it.

Re: any ideas?

I bought a memory foam topper similar to this:

http://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Better-5-Inch-Mattress-Topper/dp/B002EQAYNQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1444835221&sr=8-4&keywords=extra+firm+mattress+topper

Definitely makes a difference. I personally like a lot of firmness so I bought one that was 5 inches thick and extra firm.

any ideas?

We should trade mattresses. DH describes our bed as sleeping on plywood.

I have no advice. Chat Icon

Re: any ideas?

what type of frame is it sitting on? My mom has a pillow top which she initially said was too soft. She ended replacing the bedframe and bought a sleeper bed frame with sturdy wooden slats on the bottom. The mattress feels much firm now and she likes it better now.

You can put a piece of thick plywood between the boxspring and the matress and that will help.
