2 Year Old Problems

My 2 year old daughter used to love baths! Now, everyte I wash her hair she screams bloody murder and looks at me as if I am torturing her on purpose! It's terrible! I don't understand why this is happening all of a sudden. Normal? Also... She never had a problem putting a shirt on and now she acts like she's being tortured when we put a shirt over her head (almost like she's afraid to suffocate) and it's really scaring me. I even said to DH "I wonder if something happened with the babysitter on day that has traumatized her." But now after this bath drama, I feel like maybe it's dd possibly going through changes? What can I do about this to help calm her down?

Re: 2 Year Old Problems

Sounds familiar. My almost 2 year old hates having his hair washed... I think it's the shampoo water getting in his eyes & stinging. I give him a washcloth to cover his eyes when I'm washing his hair but he still freaks out & won't keep his eyes closed. I just do it fast, he cries & then afterward he can enjoy the rest of his bath because otherwise he loves it. As far as the shirt, I remember getting upset as a little kid when the shirt went over my head because I thought I'd get stuck inside the shirt & not be able to get out. I'd freak out when my mom tried to put a shirt on me, it must have been pretty traumatic since I remember it 30 years later lol but I got over it of course it was just a phase, so maybe that could be the issue.

Getting soap out of hair she screams like I'm hurting her. Occasionally she will lay down in the tub so I can just get the soap out but most times she just screams.

Yes happened to us too.
She was fine for a while then it became horrendous.
She would scream like we were pouring acid over her head. It was horrible.

It's a phase. She got over it, but it took a few months

It seems is always something..normal, not to worry

They sell this bath hat thingon amazon keeps water out of eyes but my older son wouldn't use it until I used it on the baby. .but still he sometimes will refuse it, and screams when getting in bath, doing hair and getting dressed. ..and. .

Probably a phase. Soon she will love baths and shirts and hate pants.

DD did that too with the baths.....my DH had to hold her standing up in the tub while I washed her down. Once in a blue moon she will still do it and she's a little over 3. Guess it depends on her "mood"

Shirts over the head she sometimes freaks out and I had to make a game out of it. Or I tell her that her favorite shirt won't "fit" if I put it on over her legs and I will have to get rid of it. She didn't like that too much and now she's fine with it.

We've been there! It finally went away, for now, when I distracted her with new toys. The toys included a pot and spoon for soup,

Re: 2 Year Old Problems

my DD did that too for a while, then she got better, then it started up again when she was 4. shes getting a little bit better - depends upon the crankiness. She REFUSES to take a shower anymore - she said she doesnt like when the water gets in her eyes and ears. no matter how many times i give her a washcloth to cover up, she still freaks out...we do baths.

i cannot wait until shes out this phase...i miss the 5 minute showers. :(
