Anyone's DD ever have a yeast infection?
DD is almost 5 and has been complaining about her vaginal area. Last night in the bath she said it was hurting and when I looked at it later, I noticed some white discharge and it looked very red and irritated. I am gong to see if I can get her a Dr appt, but I thought she was kind of young to have a vaginal yeast infection no?
Has anyone's young DD every had one? How do they treat it?

Yes Very common in young girls My ds was newly potty trained when she had one which dr said was also common Does she wipe herself? Dr also said could be from not wiping totally dry or playing in wet bathing suit
First we were prescribed nystatin But eventually needed something stronger (I forget name) We changed underwear often and no more playing in a wet bathing suit. We put a new one on after she gets out

Ah ok. She did swim on Sunday but she didn't really hang out in the bathing suit too long after getting out of the pool. She was chilly so we changed her. But she does wipe herself and I now wonder how good a job she does. Maybe she's not totally dry. I am going to call the Dr when they open. Ugh.

Re: Anyone's DD ever have a yeast infection?
It could just be a fungal infection of the skin/vulva (some same as the yeast we think of). My DD gets this if she isn't dry enough, I just use some Lotrimin and it goes away (drs suggestion). I make sure to keep her dry, and have to help her, as she doesnt wipe well.

Interesting! Yes it doens't seem like the discharge is coming from inside the vagina like when I get one. There is nothing in her panties. It's more in and around the vulva.

Anyone's DD ever have a yeast infection?
I think my DD just had one - I called the dr and she didn't need to see her. She said just use a little Monistat 7 externally. I did so and it cleared up in a day.

So you just bought the monistat 7 in the tube you fill the applicators with? I feel like the only monitstat I have ever bought is like the ovules or the tablets you insert- or prefilled applicators.

Only found the pre-filled, but I just put some on my finger and applied. Dr said to not put it internal.

Anyone's DD ever have a yeast infection?
My dd did, i brought her to the dr they gave me a rx for cream. It was a side effect of antibiotics. And the dr said totally normal and common in children.
I hope she feels better i know it must be uncomfortable.
If its itching her in the meantime run ice cold water over a wash cloth and put it on her down there it helps to relieve the itch.
