We pay $12 an hour, that's what she asked for, I think it's on the low side. But then again dd is only up for an hour or so and she just watches the monitor mostly.

I'd give her $60 for the night, so $10/hour. I'd also leave money for her to order dinner (i.e. pizza) and have it delivered to the house since she'll be there during that time.

Re: Babysitting rate

We are finally looking into a date night sitter and so far the sitters have been looking for 12-20 but I have 2 kids. I think for one kid 12-15 is fair.

Re: Babysitting rate

Depends on the sitter. I usually ask what they charge. It's about $10 an hour for ours and we always round up and give a bit more. He's super with the boys and they love playing with him. I think bc he's 18 and gets to be a big kid when he watches my boys (6 and 3). He brings over his guitar, legos, etc.
I also provide dinner and dessert for them, which is usually pizza and get ice cream and candies so they like to make their own Sundays.

Babysitting rate

I just paid $10 an hour for my 3 year old twins. She had told me $8-$9 and I told her $10 because her price sounded so low. She is my friends sister home from college for the summer. I ordered pizza too.

I know! My mom used to pimp me out to people and sometimes offered my babysitting for free!!! I wanted to kill her, but I got a lot of referrals that way.Chat Icon I was happy if I made anything. No one ever asked me how much. Usually just shoved money in my hand at the end of the night.

Same here. When I heard $12 dh's first comment was ask the ladies on the board. I think I got $20 for a night and was estatic. Lol.

I agree! when I used to babysit I never "charged" any rate. I wasn't a professional babysitter, i was just a teenager and i can't imagine telling someone that i charge a certain amount.

nobody ever asked me either, they just paid me what they wanted. everyone was always generous.
