Talk to me about nursery school- please!

Especially curious what SAHM's have done regarding nursery school for their 3 year old- but I'd love to hear from anyone!

How many days/ hours did you send them? What was the cost?

If you chose not to enroll in nursery what other activities did you do instead? Did you make sure to teach them specific concepts before pre-k?

I'm so torn as to what to do next year and im not loving the options ive found in my area (mineola). Please give me some insight!

Are you open to looking at schools outside of Mineola? I ask because i live about ten minutes away further north and have my son enrolled in a few programs.

We really like:

1. Just Wee Two (Manhasset on Northern Blvd)
2. JCC (Roslyn)

For the summer, we also signed up for Kidville Camp and Buckley. These are all on alternate days so nothing conflicts with one another.

I'm a SAHM, too.

My oldest is 4.5 and is currently enrolled in nursery MWF 830-1130.He was in a toddler program last year on TTh from 845-1145... I'm enrolling my almost 2yo twins in that same program in September.

ETA: I'm close in Carle Place, so FM me if you need school recommendations because we're very happy with the ones we've chosen.

I'm a sahm and really thought I would wait til dd was 4 and could do upk. Then I had my second and it's not as easy to get out or sometimes even to do as much as I want with her at home. Dd is very social, loves making friends, is eager to learn, etc so I decided to start her in September at 3. It was a lot harder than I expected to find a school I liked but finally the sixth one I looked at had what I was looking for. She'll go 2 half days and cost is 200 a month.

I'm a sahm and dd has been in nursery school since she was 15 months. It started as mommy and me for a few months two days a week for 1.5hrs each time. Then after a few months when she was 18 months it became drop off for two days a week two hours at a time. Not going to lie, I cried when I dropped her off and so did she. She did for a couple of months for a minute and then she was fine and beaming when I picked her up.

Now I drop her off, she looks at me and says I'll be back (what I say to her and she understands I always come back for her), gives me a kiss and runs off to play with her friends and doesn't even look back. Which for the record that hurts too lol but I love seeing her so happy.

Next fall when she is 2 it will be 3 days for 3 hours.

I work pt but mostly from home so im like a sahm. My 3 year old started at 2, 3 days a week for 2 hours (some days i extend it for 1 hour). Its amazing! And personally it was the best decision i ever made! They teach her things i cant like socialization, sharing, etc...
shes made friends and we have play dates in turn i have made some new friends.
She comes home and tells me all about her day which has opened up and entire new dialogue between us.
Her vocabulary has exploded
She is excited and looks forward to school. Loves her teachers.
It shows her that we can separate and shes ok. She can trust someone besides me...
She gets a break from me and vice versa. Shes so excited when i pick her up its the greatest feeling.
Its the best decision i made and the best thing for her.
She has learned valuable lessons.
1 other thing is she can also tell me everything that others do so if something upset her shes learned to tell me so i can teach her to speak up for herself. And start to build the blocks of being ablw to talk and trust me.

My twin boys started Nursery at 3yrs old exactly (October birthdays) so I guess they were about to turn 3yr. They go 2x week from 930-12. They LOVE IT!!!
They will go to camp at same school over summer 3x week

My Dd started school last Sept at 3yrs old (well she turned 3 in Oct actually). She goes to St Aidan's in Williston Park. It's 3 days a week for 2.5hrs, they have a morning or afternoon class to choose from. We are very happy with the program. She will be going there for pre-k next year as well

i'm a SAHM- i have one son, who is 4.5. he started nursery school when he was just about to turn 3. ( started september, turned 3 in november). it was 2 AMs a week-9-11:30. it was perfect amount of time for his first school experience. he had a little bit of a rough year, bc he went from being the only child, center of our world HAHA to being one of 12 kids in the nursery school class. but it worked out , the teachers were great and it was SO SO good for him!!! and great for me to have the break!!! this year, he's at the same school- only in the 4 year old class. so he goes 3 AMs a week from 9-11:30. he is LOVING it this year, and doing so much better!! with a november birthday, he misses the kindergarten cut off for next year, so he'll have another year at this school in their 5 year old class. that will be 4 AMs a week.

I'm a SAHM and I decided not to send my DD to nursery school. I felt it wasn't worth the money AND I'm a certified PreK-6th teacher so I felt comfortable teaching her myself. Instead, I sent her to a separation class twice a week at age 4 just so she had time alone with kids her age, she took art classes, dance classes, classes at the farm, and participated in many programs at the library.

She's in first grade now and she's been doing amazing in school, she was reading within the first month of kindergarten and has been doing great across the board. I don't regret my decision AT ALL because I made the best choice for her however, every child has different needs so it's a very personal choice.

I am fortunate to have Holy Trinity Early Childhood learning center so close to my house in RVC. They have a 2yo program either 1 or 2 days/week. It starts off as cooperative from sept to Jan, then on a Feb 1 we dropped off
The 3yo program is either 3 or 4 days/ week and it's not cooperative.
It's a great school, and it can't say enough about it

Dd went to a 2's program 2 days a week. Then a 3's 3 days a week 9-12 now a 4's 4 days 8:30-2. She's very ready for k next year.

Dd2 will
Start a 2's program in sept 9-12 2 days.

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences. My son is turning 3 in a couple weeks. We did a " just wee two" program this year and he loved it. I was hoping to find a Tues/ Thurs 3 year old program for next year but I haven't had much luck ( everything seems to be m/w/f). I'm still looking but I've also started considering some isolated separation classes instead. I'm so torn. I know the separation will be great for him- and it will give me alone time with the little one, but I don't know if I'm mentally ready for 3 days a week!

my DD started preschool at 3 in floral park. she went first two, then three mornings a week from 930-12. its been really wonderful for her.

I believe St. Brigid's in Westbury has a 2 day option. I know they did a couple of years ago.
