labial adhesion? tmi

Does anyone know anything about labial adhesions? Lately dd (6 years old) has been complaining her peepee hurts. Tonight I took a look to see if it was red or had discharge indicating a infection or something and I see that her hole is sealed shut on top, then there's a lil pin hole in the middle and then the bottom is sealed shut. The top hole where she urinates from is normal. Of course I'm freaking out and Google just made it worse so I figured I'd ask lif if anyone has experienced this and how it turned out. Tia!

Not mine, but a friend's daughter has this. She's almost a year old. My friend has been putting estrogen cream on the hole twice a day for a few months, and she says it is slowly getting better. Her doctor is not overly concerned about it though.

My dd had this... Or still does. I used the estrogen cream on her for a couple weeks. Didnt do much so we left it alone. She doesn't complain of it hurting her so I leave it as is.

I had this at 1 year oldish. I've always referred to it as a lions mane.... Because that's how my family referred to it. I had recurrent UTI's as an infant and ended up having surgery to correct it. From what I understand, this was something I was born with but it could grow back.

Sorry, I read your post wrong, I think mine was strictly in my urethra, not the whole labia.

You should call her ped. They can give an estrogen cream, but it does have some risks; or you can use a &d ointment. She should have warm soaking baths, and then you will have to help her by manually manipulating the area daily to slowly open it. She should be made very aware of keeping herself clean after using the rest room. She is at a higher risk of uti. I would go to the ped first. If it is extremely severe, I would take her to your OBGYN, especially if her ped recommends surgery. Hugs to you.

Thanks everyone... I'm gonna call the ped tomm. I'm hoping we don't have to do the estrogen cream, from what I'm reading I don't like the side and long term effects. Hopefully it can be manually torn, from the looks of it, its a thin layer of skin, although I don't know if she's gonna allow that to happen. she's very shy about her privates, she don't even like me looking at it and won't let me touch it at all (not in a pervy way, just had to clarify that lol) I hate that she's gotta go thru this, since I'm 3 years old iv had issues with my urinary track and the Dr always had to look and touch and I hated it, of course its only natural that my dd has to suffer the same crappy luck lo . Oh no! And I thought that adhesions only happen to boys! Which btw happened to DS, not a lot but enough to worry me. Now that we're having a girl, I was sooo happy I didn't have to deal with circumcisions or adhesions but I guess I do about adhesions?!

How can that happen to a girl though? I can understand how it'd happen in a boy though cause they're born with their foreskin actually attached to the gland but in a girl, those parts are never sealed except when they're forming in the uterus

DD had it as an infant. The dr pointed it out to us during a well visit.
He said to keep an eye on it and just gently massage it with a wet wash cloth...he said they usually will correct themselves on their own.
Hers did.
But she was an infant. I am not sure about in an older child.

I have no idea how it happens but it does! And my ds also has a foreskin adhesion but not bad, the Dr wasn't worried. It never ends!
